Emerald Lake Back Waters

One of the most beautiful places in Ooty.

You can park your car on the side of the road, and walk towards the lake. It's very calm and peaceful, and you can spend an entire morning or afternoon here!

It's a great place for a picnic brunch too. You can sit under the shade of the trees, overlooking the lake and enjoying the cool breeze.

It's also a great place to just sit and reflect about anything. I personally felt a lot of clarity after spending time here.

Very good, serene, peaceful, and calm place. This place is ideal for picnics, especially for families, but please don't litter the place. Protect this type of biodiversity hotspot. I visited this place last year in July month, but unfortunately, the catchment was fully dried up. So, think before visiting this place in July. Refer the attached photos.

A very quiet and beautiful place. It is secluded from Ooty so the crowd is not much in this area. I visited in January but surely it would look much more beautiful in monsoon greenery and when the lake is full

Best lake i ever visit

Awesome place to be with your family and kids. Water is clear. Also you can expect less people as the road is not good and bit far from Ooty. Good lonely spot for family picnic. Good place for photo shoot. We spent 3 hours in the afternoon during early may 2018.

The view is mesmerizing. Roads to reach this place is also awesome as it is in the middle of the Avalanche range

Emerald Lake is a popular picnic spot for the locals, being a perfect place to spend a day with your family away from the city crowd and quiet, solitary place. The blue water of the lake and the woods around are home to a number of flora and fauna, and the most visible among them are the different types of domestic birds.

Such a relaxing place. The tranquility that exist in this place made me forget the tough ride to reach it. Roads were not good enough. But manageable.

Weren't able to go check out the actual emerald lake but got a glimpse of the lake from a different angle. Best visit before 5:30 in the evening as you can experience why this lake is called emerald.

Amazing place. Not known to many people, visitors needs to be responsible, I really can't understand, how can they throw trash at such a beautiful place.

Insanely Beautiful view. Clean green water. You can't just miss this in Ooty.

A wonderful lake which is missed by majority of the tourists. Roads from kundah power plant are really really steep. Prefer the ooty to avalanche route to reach here. Restricted and remote area. Groups are preferred.

One of the best place in Ooty but nowadays the water level has become very less and there is also a notice board saying no vehicle is allowed inside the lake and also people are not allowed to play in Lake water due to safety issues
