Akranes Rooms

Let me just say, this was our FAVORITE place to stay in Iceland!!!
We arrive in the afternoon very tired after a red-eye fight. The lady running the place was so accommodating (even though we arrived a little before check in time).
We had the room with the swirl pattern wallpaper. It was so cozy and nice! The black couch folds flat to become a very comfortable bed (additional bedding inside the wardrobe). My wife slept on the other bed, and she slept very well. The kitchen is well equipped (toaster, oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator, utensils, pans, ect).
Akranes, as a city, is often overlooked by tourists. It is a nice place to spend time. There is a photogenic old shipyard with an large old wooden fishing boat, a beautiful beach, a pretty church, a pair of historic lighthouses overlooking the bay across from Reykjavik, a public square next to a coffee/hot chocolate place open until 10, and many cute neighborhoods to walk through.
We drove the entire ring road, and this was a great jumping off point for our first night. We loved it so much that we stayed here a second time on our last night in the country.
It is not too far from Reykjavik, but do keep in mind that there is an underwater tunnel that costs about $10 USD that saves you about 40 minutes of driving.

Everything you would even remotely desire for, from a lovely host to free usable dryer and washing machine.
Clean and just few steps away from the main attraction of Akranes, the free hot tub.

The warm welcome we received from Pauline was lovely, great place to stay Pauline really looked after us and even got a cake to celebrate my daughter's birthday would definitely recommend. Thanks for an unforgettable holiday

Very good hospitality, fantastically comfortable bed, a decent kitchen area, good warm shower with a solid pressure level... I could go on.

아주머니 착하시고, 숙소는 하루 묵어가기엔 나쁘지 않아요. 숙소만 놓고 보면 사실 좋은 편은 아닙니다.
