Facilities (showers and toilets) are like a 5 star hotel. No reception on site. You have to pay at a near restaurant or by Parka App. We paid on the app but never received the code to enter the showers/toilets so we had to go to the restaurant anyway to ask for the code. Showers have to be paid additionally, 100 KRN/minute (expensive for us). Be careful when putting the coins, our shower never started (the coins were returned by the machine)… t’s a bit of a headache. We have tu put our clothes back again to move to other shower.

Skies super dark, BEAUTIFUL morning facing the lake.

Bottom line: we really like and enjoy our stay.

Amazing campsite! Stay here if you plan a trip on this peninsula. Yes, it is a bit more expensive (+30% in our case) compared to the other campsites in Iceland but the price is worth. WC and Showers are on a different level. And yes - you have a stunning view:)

This campsite is one of the best we have been on Iceland. The negative comments are hardly understandable. Just make sure you arrive not too late (before 22:00) and you won’t run into any problem.

Showers costs 500 ISK
Camping costs 2000 ISK p.P.

It might be pricier, but I am not sure if on an Iceland trip these few euros/dollars/krones really make a difference.

You will get very nice facilities (toilets and showers) and the area itself is fantastic. You can even do a little evening walk to the water/cliffs.

Upon arrival we scanned the QR code at the entrance and had a very easy check-in. We were emailed the code and check-in confirmation directions immediately. This was our last campground after the ring road tour, and the cost was comparable to others we stayed at & the bathrooms were very nice. Having to pay to use a shower is the downside, but this was not the only campground that requires you to pay for a shower. We had a campervan and were able to find a level parking spot with great views!

This campsite is in a very picturesque location. It’s run by the hotel down the street. There are a couple restaurants in the town. The site is basic and has nice indoor toilets and showers. Showers are ISK 500. You can get coins from the hotel. Compared to other campsites we stayed at this one was pretty empty.

This campsite is currently rated poorly because reviewers are unsatisfied with the high price, which I think is not at all valid - yes, it is on the higher side but hardly unreasonable at 2000kr… you’re presumably on vacation so I really hope a few hundred kr is not going to break the bank. You get great views and INCREDIBLY clean, new bathrooms with completely private stalls (each one is a room). People also seem to confused about the bathroom code and checking in… For easy access to the bathroom code and easy booking, you can use the Parka website. The bathroom code will then be sent to you via email.

Amazing! I really don't get the mixed reviews; the location is breathtaking and the place is extremely clean and well organised. The staff was nice and we had a quick dinner in their restaurant where they serve great food. (also with a great view). The fish&chips and the mixed seafood soup are definitely recommended. There is a viewpoint with a nice walking track nearby. Its not the cheapest option indeed, but that makes perfect sense since the place is just way better than most others. By staying here you get a really great experience. It is not overpriced at all!

We had a very pleasant experience here and are puzzled by so many negative reviews. Yes, it’s a little more then some other places we camped but the view is spectacular, the new bathrooms are by far the nicest we saw along the ring road, and my shower was a good temperature. (We paid for showers at every campground so that charge was not surprising). The pizza place where you check in was delicious and accommodating even shortly before closing time. The whole property is rustic farmhouse decor and looks like it was imagined by chip and Joanna Gaines. Don’t hesitate to stay here!

2000 isk per night for tent site.
Very clean indoor restrooms and showers (500isk for 5mins)
Couple of outside sinks as well.
Lots of space

Nice restaurant nearby where they serve brunch, coffee, etc
Best tent site I've had so far!

I don’t understand the bad reviews. This place is by far the best camping we have stayed at after traveling all around Iceland. Yes, it is more expensive, But you get what you pay for: beautiful clean new bathroom facilities, amazing views in the camping, a cozy cottage where to have a beer some food and a pizzeria, and very friendly staff. Not crowded at all and right by the National Park. For us, it was worth it to pay the extra bucks. We paid 1,800 IKS to stay with our campervan plus 500 IKS for hot shower. They do offer free 2h walks with a ranger along the Park everyday at 1pm and the Vatnshellir Cave is 10min drive from there.

So clean and beautiful! One of keypads was having trouble with the given door code but I could use the other building. Great view of the volcano!

Not sure why this has low ratings here. The facilities were new and clean. At the same time, there were not a lot of people staying in the campsite, so maybe we just got lucky.

Brand new facilities, clean and quiet. One of the best campsites of our two week adventure.
