Cheomseongdae

This ancient astronomical observatory is seriously something out of this world. The structure itself is so unique and impressive, and you can really feel the historical significance as you stand there. The attention to detail is incredible, and it's amazing to think about how this observatory was used to study the stars and the universe. Plus, the surrounding area is so peaceful and serene, making it the perfect spot to just sit back and take in the beauty.

Amazing observatory remained still over 1400years. Circular surface of its bottle body is breaking my imagination how they cut the granity stone at that time? With what?

Very nice place for having a short walking with family. Not so many people in a low season but the high season in a spring not recommending to mingle with mnay people in here.

Cheomseongdae itself is not super impressive, but the city does their best to make the park as pretty as possible, so the place is definitely worth the visit!

Good spot for photos. If you go in the morning before 9am there's plenty if parking and not crowded at all

Came here after lunch in the area. It's lovely to visit the compound and even if it was not possible to come closer to the observatory, the scenic view the area itself offers is enough to appreciate this historic monument. It must be more scenic when viewed at night.

Great views and great place to spend time with family or a partner. The surrounding park is awesome to walk through.

Nice place to visit

It’s a stand alone structure with a lot of history behind it. It’s a nice place . The gardens around this structure were so beautiful. We were here in spring time so the flower beds around here were blooming and it was a beautiful sight.

Some say it was the first observatory built in the Korean Peninsula, and it was only accessible using a ladder.

Nowadays it is not accessible, yet it offers an amazing views thanks to the purple light that brightens it after sunset.

It is a scenic area, perfect to take some photos.

Also there are several tombs of Korean kings, due to the historical importance of the area it is necessary to behave respectfully.

Some zones are nowadays being used explored and archeologica excavations are ongoing.

Entrance in the park is free so no not hesitate !!

There are spots around there. Park near the roadside and take a walk to see the historical facility.

I like the surrounding area like the parks and pedestrian. Very relaxing to walk around in the afternoon. And lots of beautiful flowers garden.

I love the park around the observatory. An awesome area with a forest, a traditional pavilion, a hanok village. You can go at the peak of some hills and enjoy the beautiful view.

It was an observatory for the movement of stars, astronomical phenomena. good place to visit with the other site seeing places nearby.

Walked from Donggung Palace & Woji Lake, less than 10 mins. It is a very pleasant and relaxing place, even some shade to sit and rest.

I visited right after cherry blossoms season and the amount of crowds were perfect! No lines to any of the sightseeing area. Got the perfect explanation from the guide located in Cheomseongdae to a little culture and history background of the building (usually it’s a scheduled free group activity but i got it privately).
The whole area is surrounded with garden so I assume it will be even more pretty during the summer season when the flowers are blooming ✨🌻✨

Was just expecting a little star look out tower but happened to be more than that. Lovely garden especially when lotus flowers are in bloom. Nice place to walk around even in light drizzle.

"If you have even opened a Korean textbook you have seen a picture of this" - what our tour guide said. With that being said, expect lots of locals and children in this area. However, still a must see when you are in the area. The science behind the architecture of this building will amaze you. It's also surrounded by beautifully maintained flower gardens for an afternoon walk

This place is surrounded by beautiful gardens. And also a lot of Korean history about Silla Dynasty.
There is a little train car that takes you around the place or bikes you can rent to go around!

This is one of Asia's earliest remaining astronomy observaties. It is nestled between lush, green burial mounds, a field of lovely flowers, and colorful vegetation. It is historic and pleasant. It is a great place to fly a kite too.
