First stop for any DMZ tour, since the tickets are sold "first come, first serve", so the tour agencies must stop here and purchase the tickets. Inside the building are facilities, toilets, restaurants and cafes. Moreover, it has a nice view into the CCZ (civilian control zone). You can already feel the heavy military presence, since the tour guide will tell you that take photographs (or videos) of the military facilities and personnel is strictly forbidden

Great start to the DMZ tour we were doing.

its very well developed and holds much historic significance. it feels more real to feel the separation up close at the DMZ as opposed to just reading about it on a screen. sad to see the hardship of physical separation caused by ideological separation. it makes u ponder how things would have been different. MY and SG might not be named North and South Malaya, but to a much lesser extent of separation (some argue next to none haha), destinies of two nations are so different 50 yrs down the road.

TERRIFIC. At the DMZ border between North & South Korea. Learnt about Korean War and pray earnestly for their peaceful reunification one day. As of April 2023, I booked this tour with Klook & the tour agency in charge was Seoul City Tour Agency. Was told that the military limiting 1000 visitors a day and therefore we departed as early as 4am from Seoul to get to Imjingak (about 50 minutes journey) & the tour guide Miel queued for the admission tickets. Visited DMZ area at 1030am, went to the 3rd tunnel, pavilion overlooking north korea with binoculars and lastly the unification village for nice bean ice cream and bean coffee. Unforgettable experience, would recommend to anyone who values peace and learning history!

Booked the tour from Klook. Great experience & Informative session. Took about 5 hours for the entire tour. This tour is safe (on exceptional case, the Korean army will advice the tour to make alternative arrangement). Prepare your passport as strict check are conducted by the Korean army personal.

Its very touristy, but they are trying to attract more native Koreans. They went too far though by building a theme park. Still a nice place.

Strange to stay there on a bridge where 1000s of people left the north korea and find a peace in south....a place where chosen 100 north families meet with theyr relatives from south...special place for reunification...in which less and less south korean believes...there is a nixe lunapark...restaurant...and many nore to see...

With more and more of the DMZ currently inaccessible due to unfortunate tensions between US and the Koreans, this park is one of the remaining places you can visit somewhat easily, although you'll still need to show your passport to the South Korean military (it's a formality). It's a beautiful park with war relics like a scuttled train; I highly recommend choosing a high quality tour company, like I used. Many are quite affordable and can offer other services upon return to Seoul.

Very interesting place to visit.

Impressive train machine, where you will find rude Chinese tourist jumping the little fence to take photos and touch it even if there are signs saying not to in different languages (mandarin is one of them).
One Korean lady was telling them not to do it as it was part of her history and was very offended and disappointed. We help her asking politely to those tourist not to jump the little fence and touch it, but they would not care.

Worth paying the entrance to the bridge where you can still see bullets and holes from these.

Imjingak is a memorial park built to commemorate the LOSSES due to the war between eastern communism and western capitalism and what later became two separate countries; North and South Korea.

There are different types of losses, signified by the different monuments currently built into the park. First there is the old derelict railway bridge that used to carry people from the north to the south and vice versa, which is now no longer in operation. A new railway bridge is built to the left which works on special occasions. This is sort of a commemoration of broken links between the two countries and somehow not repaired entirely.
Second, there is a central plaque/alter with the 3 characters 望拜壇 which signify the need to "pay your respects to" or give agreement or consent to the memory of your homeland. There are various other plaques behind showing pictures of ones own village or "origin" in the north and what that was like. The third monument or stone engraving shows a couple embracing. Surrounding this statue is pictures literally taken from a TV show that was used by people to unite with their loss relatives separated because of the war. This TV program apparently ran on air continuously for 300 days, always playing what became a hit theme song entitled :"the lost 30 years". (This song's title may not be exactly correct but, it emphasised the length of time of "separation of relatives" another loss or cost of the war.)
Finally towards the south side of the park there are various peace memorials, a peace bell that you can ring for a small fee, a display of "peace" stones and a display of an old train ruin, left by the fighting. There are also various restaurants and coffee shops and toilets in the central building. Altogether a must visit if you visit Seoul or South Korea, a country always ready to go to war but ready for peace at the same time.

The place was clean and cool. The movie theatre is a little worn, but it isnt anything major, just something to note. The tunnel is an amazing historical part of Korea, but going down? Do not. When I got down, all there was to see after around 15-20 minutes of walking down a tunnel and sneaking through another wet and rather dark tunnel, was a camera pointed to the people, barbed wire and a few tv's displaying what the cameras can see. I recommend going, but down the tunnel? Beware. It is a very draining experiencd that'll have you panting for air when you get to the bottom and when you get back. Must visit though!

Great touring place. Photo oppurunity and great wealth of history and knowledge. And old train is placed that once crossed the line during the korean war. and along the fences are tags of prayers written on them or the names of people when the north and south koreans are being defected or lost or were left behind. Its a great place to learn about the area.

A hollowing reminder of a country split in two by a war that is still technically on going. Visit with friends from South Korea, and you will get the sense of sadness and sorrow the barrier that separates South Korea from the DMZ. There are war memorabilia all around the area, so its worth taking the trip to soak it all in and reflect.

This place holds a lot of history to north and South Korea.

The freedom bridge is where North Korea release POW to meet the South Korea siblings who was lost during the world war.

The bridge now serves as a place of remembrance for families who are separated

Amazing history and must come!
