Rather fast and swift check in as international departure is in a central area with the immigration rather quick but depends on timing as well there’s duty free shopping in the airport as well and other then that have a safe flight! Caught a glimpse of miss earth as well bonus points!

It is a small but well maintained airport. Not fancy like other airports coming up these days.
Location is a big plus, you can easily get to the city in half an hour. Yandex taxis are easily available.
Checkin and immigration lines are very fast.
Currency exchange options, ATMS, SIM shops are abundant.

Quick passport control by friendly officers! Immediate arrival of the suitcase when flying with Air Astana. No scanning of suitcases and other time stealing actions. After getting out of the baggage collecting, there are shops, very friendly and helpful tourist information and SIM card sellers to have data in Kasachstan. Best option for taxi is yandex application.

To get Almaty by bus, you have to go about 7 min to bus stop across parking zone, and catch 92 bus. Ticket is about 0.5 USD

We arrived in Almaty International Airport at around 2 AM or so. Everything was swift, cleared immigration and collected the luggage in 15 min or so.

Even though we arrived late in the night, all shops were open, for currency exchange, SIM cards etc. There are enough number of ATMs from various banks.

There’s also SIM cards available for purchase from the official stores and a smaller store near the ATMs. It’s cheaper at this smaller store, around 6000 KZT.

I had taken an eSIM online prior to my arrival so didn’t get the SIM card. Was able to book a Yandex taxi and safely reached my place of stay.

The airport is located in between the mountains and looks so beautiful during sunrise.
Air astana was also amazing and exceeded my expectations by many folds.

Fair enough, I experienced no delay at all.

It was like a small town airport when I visited there 2019. Bargaining with taxi drivers is important.

Great international airport with the perfect, warm and very helpful Kazakhstan peoples!
Safety and clean area, toilet's, places for some rest and charging devices, careful service officiers and other personal which anytime happy to help and support!

Excellent airport with all modern amenities

It was worth visiting! It is safe, people are nice and food/transport is affordable. Should be in every one's bucketlist of places to visit for a great adventure.

They custom officers are kind and calm .And very helpful love visitors .But airlines especially the Qatar-based employees need a lot of customer services training and culturally sensitive and awareness.
