Dothalugala nature trail

There is a campsite as well as a small bungalow managed by the forest department. You can reserve the campsite or the bungalow from Battaramulla Forest department head office. If you wish to take the nature trail only, you can obtain tickets f4om the Deanston forest department conservation center office. Take precautions to protect from leech attacks.

This trail is easily accessible from the Hunnasgiriya - Meemure road. Tickets have to be purchased from the Deanston Conservation Center before starting the hike. It takes around half an hour to reach the campsite.

From the campsite, the trail diverges in two directions. You can either take the left hand side route & return from the right hand side one or vise versa. The trail from the campsite is heavily infested with leeches and it is difficult to survive without proper leech protection such as leech socks.

There are a few water streams on the trail, however it is advisable to carry a small water bottle with you. A major part of the trail is covered with trees & the lush green forest cover will drive away the tiredness. Depending on your speed, it will take around 2-2.5 hours to complete the round trip.

The Dothalugala nature trail in Knuckles is an absolute must-see for any nature lover. The trail is easily accessible from the Hunnasgiriya to Meemure road and offers stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. Believe me I not exaturating a bit this place was a freaking heaven. This is somewhere filled with endless supply of spectacular sceneries.
The only downside is there are like millions of leeches waiting to eat you alive. Pack some hand sanitizer and you are good to go.

How we booked camping sights: from Battaramulla wildlife dept

It starts 400m away from Deanston wildlife dept. we also received a ticket from the same place. it is a one fine hike in a marked trail. took us about 1.5 hours to reach the top.

we saw yahangala, kehelpathdoruwa, dumbanagala, garadigala peak on our way during the hike. i have also uploaded some pics of it.

One of the Most beautiful places in Sri Lanka. But it is very hard to enjoy the view with those leeches ! Wear protective gear and prepare as best as you can

You can hike this mountain within 2hrs.
