Everything good, but low light in the evening. VERY BIG ROOMS. 50m2. Very big bath room. Japan styled hotel. Big clean swiming pool. A lot of staff here. Very clean territory. Good sea view. Very quite here. Only on weekends we can hear music from near hotel place for wedding. No music in the evening at all.

MEF is an estate as vast as 15 acres and is dwelling to countless of majestic elephants. The name of the estate, Samragiri has been inherited from the Samarasinghe family who have lived here for many generations. It is the only foundation where visitors are allowed to ride elephants bare back and interact with them with safety measures in the form of a educational tour. The foundation also provides a special Elephant Walk where you would be taken a 30 minute walk along with the animal.

MEF has charity trusts for the welfare of these humble animals.

Highlights: One hour educational walk and a tour of the museum, personally bathing the elephants, exotic walk on the grounds of the estate with an elephant, entry to Maximus Dung Paper factory.

Price: 2000LKR for foreigners and 100 LKR

Amazing place. Caring staff. Everyone should visit and see the most ethical way of elephant tourism in Sri Lanka. They raise funds for the elephants to constantly provide them with the best care, but they also fundraise for the neuter, vaccination and treatment of stray dogs and also for the Sunera program which looks are disabled children. We had the most wonderful time :)

If you visiting sri lanka, then this place must be in your list. Here you will see how they are treating elephants. This place is peaceful but you will get chance to give showers to elephants. Amazing place and staff.

Elefant walk was realy good experience. Guide was verry kind. You can feed elephant, wash elephant and during walk you learn many interesting things about this animals.

This is superb elephant life training institute in pinnawala, we always recomend this training to you, they have well trained person to do this program. If you need study elephants life in asia, this is good chance to study elephant life

Wonderful sanctuary, you can help clean them and learn about the mahamut people who care for them.
