Mahoora Tented Safari Camp Udawalawe

We had the pleasure of staying at Mahoora Tented Safari Camp in Udawalawe on September 2nd and 3rd, 2023, and it was an unforgettable experience for our family – myself, my wife, and our daughter.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm by Mr. Solomon, who wears multiple hats as the camp manager and on-site naturalist. Solomon and his incredible team made our stay feel like a home away from home, offering hospitality that was above and beyond our expectations.

Special mention goes to Samatha and the kitchen staff for treating us to sumptuous 5-course meals. Dining under the stars beside a bonfire was a unique and magical experience that we will cherish forever.

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the safari to Udawalawe National Park, expertly guided by Solomon himself. His extensive knowledge of the local flora and fauna added a layer of depth to our safari experience that we truly appreciated. We also opted for the morning nature walk (rather than the night walk) around the campsite, which was a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. We highly recommend the morning walk to anyone seeking tranquillity and a deeper connection with nature.

The tents at Mahoora Tented Safari Camp were not only comfortable but also offered a sense of safety and seclusion that allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in the wilderness. It felt like a genuine camping adventure, with the added luxury of modern amenities.

In conclusion, our stay at Mahoora Tented Safari Camp was nothing short of remarkable. If you're looking for a unique and immersive wildlife experience in Udawalawe, combined with exceptional hospitality, this is the place to be. Thanks to Solomon and his team, our trip was truly unforgettable.

Can't wait to try out the Yala and Wilpattu sites and, of course, to return to the Udawalawe site.

The team is very welcomed and friendly.
We stayed one night and did the safari early in the morning. Beautifull Safari, we could see a lot of elephants and beautifull birds as well.
If you are looking for a natural experience we recommend 200% !!!

This place is a great choice all around if you're looking to visit the Udawalawe National Park. It's a very big and spacious camp site with around 20 big tents. The tents are equipped with a standing shower, toilet and sink, mosquito nets, locks on the doors and an electric torch for night time. The service was exemplary, food was great and served outdoors on proper tables with a set menu for lunch and dinner, and buffet for breakfast. The camp itself is right on the outskirts of the reserve, next to a pond where wild buffaloes come to relax. At night the camp is lit up with oil torches and oil lamps which give off an amazing atmosphere. It's a 30 min drive to the reserve's entrance. The downside was no WiFi and lots of bugs to deal with obviously. Very highly recommended.

Best glamping in sri Lanka(udawalawa ), they are very professional, very friendly stuff and they have very good chef 👩‍🍳..safari experience was awsome. if you are a nature lover this is a one of the best plase to hang out
