A really great experience it has been.😍 We visited the place on a Saturday if a long weekend. We expected there to be much of a crowd but surprisingly there was not. If you want to travel the place, recommend you to take a tuk tuk from the parking place provided to park your vehicles?vehicles like cars, motorbikes, which can be hard to use to go all the way up to the top view point) but if you are using a vehicle like a jeep or a double cab or a land cruiser prado or a montero or something like that with more than 1500-2000cc you can easily reach the viewpoint. The only concern is that the road to the place is through tea plantations so it’s just about wide for two vehicle to pass each other with great effort. So if you are taking such a vehicle mentioned above, be prepared to hit reverse whenever you need to. Therefore the best option for you is to hire a tuk tuk from the parking space down below Dambatenna Tea Factory, which will only cost you around 1500LKR for a one tuk tuk. They will let 4 of you get into a one also (which we had some concern🤣). Then you can go to the top without being hesitated and bothered with all the driving hardness, unless you really want the experience. If possible pls ask about the weather of the top from the below car park to ensure that u can witness a great view from up there without disturbances from clouds and mist. There’s a shop with refreshments for you up in the viewpoint, and also there are washrooms to your needs, which are clean and well maintained. You would have to take a ticket from the ticket counter and it’s really really cheap. There’s an uncle who has great knowledge about the whole area up at the viewpoint to guide you through what you see. If possible pls be kind and treat him with whatever way possible🙏 And BEWARE!!!! There are monkeys (රිලව්) up at the viewpoint.🐒 Be really really careful of them unless you want your sunglasses, keys, phones and stuff. They tend to grab and run stuff like those plus Food items. If you visit the place by your own vehicle close all the doors and windows at all times as they will get in and steal🤣🤣 but be sure to give them something to eat as they are so cute😌❤
So really recommend you to visit the place and witness some breathtaking views of our island paradise❤✨

Beautiful viewpoint over tea country down to the south coast of Sri Lanka. Entry fee is 500 rupees per person (Nov 2023). Recommend that you visit in the morning before it gets cloudy. The walk back down to the Dambutanae Tea factory is definitely worth doing. An easy walk through lovely scenery and quiet countryside.

Make sure that you visit the Roti store at the top too. Lovely owner, tasty food and tea.

You can see 5 provinces of SriLanka from here. There are some tuk drivers before the ticket counter and they’ll be telling like your vehicle cannot go to the top. If you are sure abt your vehicle, you can go to the top. even with a 800cc engine. So many places of the road after the ticket counter is bit narrow. Please be aware of that.

so beautiful ❤. absolutely recommend this place. but better to go in the early morning (6-6.30) or in the evening. so can have a good time in there. if you are going by your vehicle, drive carefully. or you can go via a tuk from the village. enjoy the beautiful env without distroying it.

We were the only Lankan couple to witness the sunrise on 1st Jan 2024.

You have to park the vehicle near the Kovil which you pass on the way to Lipton's seat. There are many tuk drivers whose only income is dropping you to the lipton's seat. They charge 1500/= as at date and this includes return trip and some photo captions. You should take their service because it's difficult to go up until the Lipton's seat, the road is narrow and it's difficult for 2 vehicles to pass by.

This place opens at 8am and closes at 5pm. But with the help of tuk drivers you can visit before or after the mentioned time period. Ticket price is 100/= for locals. 500/= for foreigners.

If you go around 6am you can see the sunrise. Sunset isn't much clear. The place becomes foggy quickly and unpredictable. But most of the time after a heavy rain it's clear. You can see 5 provinces from this place and ask more details from your tuk driver, he probably knows.

There is washroom facilities. 30/= as at date but not clean enough. Also there is a shop to fulfill your hunger cheaply. But nice food and few hot beverages.

Recommended for everyone to visit at least once in a lifetime.

It was a nice experience even though it was raining and cloudy, we have waited around 15 minutes and the sun came up. It is worth waiting because the weather is changing rapidly and the landscape is so beautiful.

On another note, we met Bala at Dambathne tea factory tuk tuk park, a tuk tuk driver really nice and reliable guy, most importantly safe driver and trustworthy person.

Great place for sightseeing. Recommend you check the weather beforehand, since the mist hinders the viewpoint.

It's very tricky with the weather - we got there beginning september and saw nothing but fog. Still the place has a magical atmosphere and at the top you can have tea and traditional food.

We took the Bandarawela road visit Lipton’s seat. However I recommend to take the Haputale road as it’s a smooth drive. Even though the Bandarawela road had some beautiful views, it was a very bumpy & rough road.
Breath taking views from the top and don’t forget to enjoy a warm cup of tea & a rotti when your up there 😍 it took us about 40 minutes to go up there from the thicket counter, enjoy the view and come back down.

Good place to visit with your family. Better to avoid public holiday as too much vehicles will make issues on the road

The Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here. Lipton’s seat is a panoramic overlooking destination in Sri lanka. Handapanagala lake, Chandrika lake, Uda walwe lake, Wedi hiti Kanda mountains, and also the hambanthota harbor alocated in the in the southern coastal area nd five provinces in Sri Lanka can be seen remarkably. The Dambetenna longest tea factor

Amazing view. If you have a small van you can drive to the top.
