Grand Andaman Hotel

This hotel is amazing the service is second to none and the views are amazing.The rooms are extremly clean even though they r a little outdated. I would deffinatly reccomnend staying here.

I was there for only 2 hours in the restaurant and a little in the casino. I liked everything. The atmosphere is very good and so is the service staff.

While the building complex is older style, and rather quaint with its stately impressive size and spacious design, it gives a good impression.

Situated on a hilltop on its own island, surrounded by thick tropical jungle, and the waters of the Andaman Sea, it is just a short boat trip from Ranong in Thailand (free border permits for Thais, $10 7-day local visa for others), with boats of the Grand Andaman leaving from a jetty with its own immigration office north west of Ranong about 5km.

There are English speaking staff on hand to assist, and golf carts and buses take guests up to the resort hotel, where from the vast lobby you can go to Duty free, the casino slot machines and upstairs gaming tables, or turn right to the Victoria Cafe restuarant with its 200 baht buffet for lunch and dinner, Thai-influenced, or laze at the lounge cafe with more Western and international fare, including coffee.

Below, on the 3rd level, is a large swimming pool, with a deep 2m circular pool and an adjoining junior pool, as well as a new gym with new equipment, and next to a great value spa with massage starting from 400 baht for 60 min Thai massage. Thai currency is used, even though the hotel is in Myanmar.

There are great sunset views from the cafe and terrace, and you can see hornbills in the trees and on the thermals above look for chestnut coloured brahminy kites.

The rooms, are light and airy, with private balconies. Decor is simple, elegant and comfortable, with some Burmese and Thai touches and art; rooms stay cool, and new shower units complement the marble tile bathroom. There is a minibar too.

Wifi is good throughout the complex. Thai phones also work. The resort is set up for Thais, in family groups, but they treat well foriegners, and the place is good for relaxing before or after a Mergui Archipelago adventure.

The resort hotel is a good place for lunch for those based in Kawthaung with the regular boat transfers continuing until late at night, and the restaurant/cafe open til late.

Even though it does get busy, the resort never feels crowded, and at night it is quiet, even on busy weekends or Thailand holidays.

The resort offers sightseeing tours to Kawthaung, as well as snorkelling trips to the famed Emerald Heart island, and ATV and ziplines adventures, with a range of activities around the resort making it family-friendly or good for a relaxing time.

Lovely place te be. We were one of the few westerners around. It's a place where people from Thailand and Myanmar enjoy themselves, take a boat trip, hang around, enjoy the swimming pool and those who can afford, enjoy the casino.

The food is local and good. And the atmosphere is even better. There is old art everywhere in the hotel and it gives a sphere of luxury and abundance. Well done. Locals realy like it, probably to escape daily life.

The boat trip with snorking facilities aroud 4 islands of Myanmar was amazing. Sad to see that coal is dying everywhere in the world.

Love this place! Staff are so friendly. Their Duty Free Shop is excellent. Restaurant has some stunning views, reasonably priced food and great coffee!

I like this place when I come for 2/3 days when I have dayoff. The rooms are very nice.. The dinner buffet and breakfast very good... And the casino slot is nice... The personal is very good. Thank you

Accessibility
From Bangkok: By air: Take a one hour plane trip from a Bangkok Airport to Ranong Airport in Thailand.

From Phuket: Enjoy a 4 hour scenic drive to Ranong Pier to join a short 20-minute trip by fast cruiser to Andaman Club.

Travel Requirement : The Immigration Office at the Ranong Pier will issue visitors with a border pass. The document required is an Identification Card for Thais and a Passport for foreigners. The office is open daily, from 08.30-17.00 hours. A representative from Andaman Club will escort you through Myanmar Immigration.

Note: Expatriates living in Thailand will require a re-entry permit back to Thailand.

This island is belong to Myanmar but a lots of thailand people comes over here to spend the weekend , the hotel here is fully book for almost every weekend.there is casino, hiking and swimming pool.
