It is nearby hill station from Kathmandu and snow-capped mountains can also be observed in the clear weather. Ten minutes Cable Car ride will take you to the top of the hill.

The Chandragiri Hils are quite significant from a historical standpoint. It was from these hills that King Prithivi Narayan Shah caught the first glimpse of a much scenic and prosperous Kathmandu valley, which in fact instilled in the king's mind an idea of annexing the valley into his kingdom According to folklore, Prithivi Narayan Shah is beleved to have amassed spiritual powers for unification process after undergoing rigorous meditation or 'sadhana' at these very hilis. The Gorkhali king disguised himself while ascending the hills in order to avoid being recognized by the Malla Kings of Kathmandu in his Divine Preaching (Divyopades), it has been mentioned that King Prithivi Narayan was determined to first annex and then make Kathmandu the capital of unified Nepal. He apparently first saw the valley while on his way back to his kingdom in Gorkha from his in-law's realm in Makwanpur According to Historian Prof. Dr. Dinesh Raj Panta, astrologers Bhanu Aryal and Kulananda Dhakal who accompanied the king during that trip had made a prediction that their king's wish to takeover Kathmandu would definitely come true. As per popular belief, pleased with his perseverance and Sadhana, it was Bhaleshwara Mahadev that granted King Prithivi Narayan Shah his wishes

Solid viewpoint of the valley. Can get crowded. Weekday mornings are best. Toss up if you’ll get a clear view of the valley or not. Bring a light jacket.

The temple is excellent. Gold shrouded figures all around, stupas and lit diyas. Darshan doesn’t take too long.

There’s an observation tower with a NPR 50 entry fee which is the calmest and highest spot. No food allowed up there.

Food lines are a bit chaotic, you have to ask people rushing the counter to respect the line. Most comply.

Get the noodles or momos. Chicken burger not bad (NPR 300). Yes, they serve chicken less than 100m from the temple. Not my call.

There’s zip lining, zip lining with a bicycle, kids playground, a bungees jumping spot called ‘free fall’, and a beer garden. Fun for the whole family.

Awesome place ... Chandragiri hills... The cable car ride itself is mesmerizing..but only till u reach the top... It's quiet n pleasent place ...temple is very beautiful..... Whole place is very neat maintained....

Suggested to carry warm cloths or cap, muffler, etc .. coz it's cold n windy on top..... Few activities also available for adventurous ones...

This is an incredible place that lies in the Himanchal range of the great Himalaya. One can go by cable cars of which ticket price for tourists belonging to SAARC and BIMSTEC countries is ₹७५० (₹750) for one-way and ₹१२६० (₹1260) for two-ways per person.

Although, being expensive the tour is worth every penny as with the cable-car going upward you can feel the cold breeze and one can never forget the spine-chilling moment of looking downward from the car.

When you're on the top of the mountain you can have a great view of the city on one side and a chain of mountains on the other. I'm sure if one is lucky with the weather S(He) can see the Himadri range of the great Himalaya also.

Beautiful place with nature and great architecture. You can go up there by cable car and can enjoy the beauty of the mountain range. There’s a scope of doing zip lining which is apparently the highest zip lining of the world.We did the zip lining too. Great experience.

What a Magical God place in Kathmandu City. You can feel Good vibes after visit here. Highest altitude of Kathmandu. A modern Cable car Transportation working here .Road transportation also available but it is Time taking and costly. I think you must visit once in your life to Take a great Mountain View and a Great God place.

This is the temple of Lord Shiva. It is very peaceful place. The wind is very pleasant and cool. Got a lot of relaxing and peace after coming. This temple is situated at an altitude of 2550 meters above sea level.

Bhaleshwor Mahadev (Nepali: भालेश्वर महादेव) is a Hindu temple located in Chandragiri hill in south-west side of Kathmandu Valley. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at the altitude of 2551 meters above sea level. The temple was built by Chandragiri Hills on the historic and religious site. The temple was designed by the architect Shankar Nath Rimal. The temple is connected to the Kathmandu valley by a cable car.
It is believed that Sati Devi, first consort of Shiva, sacrificed her own life at Daksha Prajapati’s yagna after Daksha insulted Shiva in front of other deities. Shiva, enraged with Sati Devi's death, carried her dead body on his back and walked across the world in rage. Shiva, blinded by rage, did not realize that Sati Devi’s decaying body was falling apart. Sati Devi's body parts fell down to different parts of the world. Pilgrimages were later established at these sites. Bhaleshwor Mahadev temple is believed to have been built at one of these sites, where Sati Devi's forehead ('Bhala') had fallen.
In Nepal Bhasa the hill is known as Gon:ga Danda (it is converted its name from Gon:ga means bhalay (Nepali) and Danda means hills). It is also known as Ichheshwor Mahadev.
The hill on which the temple is situated is related to the unification of Nepal campaign. On his way back to Gorkha from his in-laws in Makwanpur, Prithvi Narayan Shah had planned to make Kathmandu Valley the capital of a unified Nepal for the first time from Chandragiri hill.
The temple complex also consists of idols of multiple Hindu gods and goddesses. There is a view tower, restaurant, food stalls, gift stores, banquet, 3D hall as well as an amusement park for children near the temple on the hill.
