Filled with locals and an authentic Cusco menu. The pork I had was very meaty and fatty, a good mix. They do seem to get filled at times to where there’s a wait so try to get here before 1 on the weekends. Everything looked very delicious

Has to be a must-do. Feels v authentic and huge portions of delicious Peruvian food.

About 30 min walk from the historic centre but definitely worth it and you can walk to the mirador on the way back to shake off the food.

Delicious traditional food at excellent prices. Menu changes everyday and cost S/17.50. You need to queue to visit (We arrived at 11:40 and we got table, after 13:00 you could see the queues inside and outside).
Our favorite dishes were "Rocoto Relleno" (with "Pastel de papa") and chicha.
A lot of local where here and this is always a great indicator.
Minus are that you only can pay with cash and service can take a while due is very full, waitress try to do their best.
A must to visit if you go to Arequipa.

Went for lunch as is the typical opening times of picanterias at around 2pm, it was busy with a line outside almost exclusively of locals but it moved quickly and we were seated in 15 minutes. Small menu of local Peruvian foods, it was recommended by a Arequipa resident for the Guinea pig (cuy) which is what I went to try. We also got the prawn soup which was great and a couple of large beers. Prices were very reasonable, including the helado from the stall in the courtyard which is worth having too.

Recommended by a local in Cusco and it didn't disappoint. The waiter spoke English (which was greatly appreciated) and pointed out some must have dishes. It's comfort food at its best. Also the chicha was absolutely delicious.

Recommended by local friend. Didn’t disappoint for sure. I ordered Chupe de camarones. It was fantastic. Big portion and full of flavor. The price is very reasonable as well. Highly recommend.

Such a nice and authentic place! One of the the most famous picanterias in Arequipa but still reasonably priced. I didn’t understand a word from the menu so the lady that served me took me inside the kitchen and showed me what everything was, it was lovely. If you are not from around here I recommend getting the Americano, that way you can taste a variety of typical dishes. And of course the fermented chicha, so much better than chicha morada!

Very local picanteria. You share table with other people and you have the chance to meet locals. Portions are huge and price are very little. We took sopa de camarones and other stuff and couldnt finish it. HIGHLY RECCOMENDET if u dont want something purely for tourist.

Really enjoyed the almuerzo here, big portions- enough to share between 2 people. And the chicha is good

Lunch here on 15/9/17. I ordered Chupe De Camarones @ 35 soles. Is a seafood soup. Many fresh shrimps and the soup very sweet! Service very fast and attentive despite full house. The boss is very friendly and allowed me to take photo in his open concept kitchen. I have a photo with him . There is a potion of the wall in the restaurant where you can write your name. Great food ! All must come and tried.

A must place to when visiting Arequipa. Lines can get long prior to opening, but the food is worth the wait. Great food and reasonable prices are the highlights here.

Amazing food. Huge portions. Have had the shrimp soup, stuffed peppers + scalloped potatoes and braised beef ribs. All were great.

Best food I had in Peru. The waitress was so nice, she took me to the kitchen to see the food they were cooking, because I coudn't understand what the meals were. I had two different dishes once I couldn't decide (they all looked delicious). And I met a truck driver who had lunch with me and told me funny stories about his life. Just loved the place!

Excellent place for typical food from Arequipa. You'd better order half portion of plates 'cause a full one is too much for a single person, you'd better get there with a group so each one can order a different plate and share.

Excellent food at excellent prices. A more than full meal for two - the doble - costs only 20 soles and comes with a glass of chicha. The pastel de tallarin is one of the best comfort foods I've had abroad. The meat in the res estofado was tender and full of flavor. Cannot recommend this eatery enough.
It can be a bit intimidating on entry but all you have to do is find an open seat and wait for the server to come by.

Probably the best place to get authentic Peruvian cuisine while in Arequipa. The prices are cheap and the food is fantastic! The Chicha Morada was the best I had and the Rocotto Relleno is highly recommended. Order only one portion between two people as they are big!

I loved this place! Cozy and traditional, and the food was delicious. Definitely ask for the "menú" (for lunch) because it includes a soup and a "segundo" (main dish), although they don't publish it on the menu.
