Chitral Fort

Chitral fort is built near the bank of Chitral river. One of the famous landmark in chitral. As i visited this fort i came to know that the royal family is still living there. This place needs to be highlighted and taking care of. Because the building inside was seen damaged. The view of the river is breath taking and i am amazed to see they chose the best possible place in chitral to built thiz fort.

It's a beautiful fort, but quite neglected. This structure can become the biggest tourist attraction of the city and area but unfortunately haven't been preserved well. I'd suggest handing it over to serena or Pc to turn it into a hotel, for at least they'll preserve it. My suggestion might seem lunatic but this structure deserves to be praised and preserved well. The front gate was closed, so i had to go from the back side, and thanks to Chacha Sher Ali, who allowed me to visit this place. While I was leaving, I was forced by my photographic urge to take a picture of chachu and Wallah he's so photogenic. To cut short, Chitral Fort should be restored to up to its full grandeur and royalty.

Chitral fort is an important landmark of this city. The fort is situated on the bank of the Kabul River. The fort is still in possession of the royal family of Chitral and head is called Mehtar or chief. The fort is unique in architecture and heritage. The current Mehtar Fateh-ul-Mulk Ali Nasir is a well versed and vigilant personality and used to write pieces on history.

The public can visit only on friday to sunday.
However on request some portions of the fort can be visited.

People are very friendly. And the place is a must to visit.

The forte was built beautiful, but was not well maintained as it needed to be !
My words will not bring change but still i wish if some concern read it and save the heritage

Chitral Fort is located at the bank of river Chitral and next to Chitral mosque.This was built in 1774 during the reign of Mohtaram Shah Katur ll and restored in 1911.3 guns are placed in the hall.When we visited it, it was closed.So we could visit the inside.We came to know it is private property.The building was in good condition.There is a small mosque inside fort.

Chitral Fort is located in Chitral Town, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Fort is Situated on the bank of River Chitral. The Fort is on very prime location. Fort has been built in 1774 during the rule of Mohtaram Shah Katur II of Chitral, and restored in 1911 By Shuja Ul Mulk, (Mehtar of Chitral). After merger of the Chitral State in Pakistan, the Fort was declared as the personal property of the last ruler of Chitral. It is now occupied by the current Mehtar, Fateh ul Mulk Ali Nasir, who has renovated the old darbar hall and state rooms.

Definitely a national heritage site and needs urgent attention for restoration.

Chitral Fort is one of the best sightseeing places in Chitral. Standing atop Chitral River, it provides an aesthetic view of the valley. The guides are very courteous and provide quality information about the Fort. A must visit place if you are visiting Chitral.

It should be renovated because it can be good attraction for tourists

It is such an amazing place to know the history and culture of chitral. It makes us know about the history and living style of rulers in past times. Also the local architecture shows itself in every block of the walls

The Chitral Fort is a fortification in Chitral town, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The fort is situated on the banks of the Chitral River. The fort has a commanding position on the river and is believed to have been built in 1774 during the reign of Mohtaram Shah Katur II and restored in 1911 by His Highness Sir Shuja ul-Mulk .[1] The compound used to house the barracks of the guards of Mehtar of Chitral.[2]

Good place, but nothing to see here... All locked, as they don't allow visitors anymore to visit.
