River beach Portagem

Great place to get refreshed. Can get busy at times but there is more than enough space.

Beautiful area under the castle if Marvao on the way to Spain. Little cafés and restaurants, picknick benches and toilets. A lot of shades because of the beautiful big old trees. Water is freezing cold the basin is cleaned once a week so than you Cannt go swimming. Next to the natural pool you have also the public swimming pool.
There is a lot of parking space. It's not alowd to stay for the night.

We enjoyed the swimming experience in the river pool, water is cool and clean.small kids can also enjoy as there is shallow water section as well as a much deeper side for experienced swimmers. Grassy areas to sunbathe or relax under the shadow thanks to the big trees. Toilets, showers, a picnic area, a playground for kids, a regular swimming pool, few snack bars and restaurants are also available nearby. Plenty of free car parking space. The place seems to be loved by locals and tourists alike.

Lovely spot with both natural river pool and municipal outdoor swimming pool. But on a very hot day at end of May was not yet open. Opens only on 15 June.

Cold water, clean place and free WC. Also a nice place to have lunch !!!

Best place to make a break and have a great dive in a transparent river water. Go to the old brigde and tower.
