Starting point of Europe. Exhibition about historic trade explorations. You can experience amazing views, a natural cove and a fascinating wind tunnel. Must see when in Algarve.

Well worth the entrance fee. Lovely walk and gorgeous view. Watching people fish off "the end of the world" was so cool. Good information plaques and the gift shop was very cute. Parking is far (in US terms) from the entrance just be aware.

Great place to visit. It's always windswept! We love the wild flowers and birds. Go to the place you can listen to the sea through the grids in the ground. It's magical

The place is very open. We spent around 2 hours here and took a walk around.
The place it accessible with a wheelchair but the walkway is a bit bumpy.
Has a lot of parking slots available from which we had a very nice view at the beach and the surfers 🏄♂.

Don't br fooled when you get there into thinking there is nothing to see when you get there. There is a lovely coastal walk with dramatic cliff faces and scenery. If you do the perimeter walk it's a leisurely 1 hour walk It was only €3 entrance fee. We'll worth a visit. I've never seen fishermen fishing like this before

Europeans once referred to Sagres as the “End of the World” prior to the age of Discovery.
Truly a world class vista! If you’re in the mood for a nice hike including a feast for the eyes you can’t go wrong with Fortaleza de Sagres. As its name implies it is indeed a Fort strategically placed on a Cape that probably stretches a kilometer south into the Atlantic with clear views from the east to the west panning through the south. One gets the feeling that enemy ships approaching the area would be sitting ducks. The views are humbling, rendering you speechless! After parking in the giant parking lot there’s a short hike to the entrance of the Fort where tickets are 3 euros. Proceeding, there is one of the nicest maritime museums I can remember ever visiting and nearby the Fort’s Chapel looking very much as it must have back in the day.
Once we leave the confines of the built area we’re now out on the well paved path which I’m assuming must be 2 kilometers long (for those that are challenged you can simply double back when tired). Hopefully you’ll be able to continue as the sights of giant waves crashing into the cliff side rocks is magnificent. Oh, and what gigantic cliffs these are! The vistas offer views to the horizon off to the West (next stop the Americas), to the south (Africa’s down that way) and East along the Algarve Coast in the direction of the Mediterranean.
The path has directories that speak to the history, flora and fauna of the Cape and occasionally there are stops at old Gun Batteries. One of the special features is an echo chamber. Maze like with no roof it leads to an inner chamber with a steel grate for a floor. This is positioned above a blow hole that extends from the cliff side at least 100 meters inland to the vertical shaft. If you happen to be there on a day when the swells are large (quite regularly), the force of the water pushing air through the shaft creates an amazing updraft. Your shirt will need to be pulled down from your chest as it can be that powerful. And the sound!
Continuing around your eyes will be met with sights of some of the clearest waters imaginable on calmer days. Surfers flock to the beach just west of the Cape where you can spend hours watching, or grab your board and hit the waves.
After a nice hike, a short drive away there are several great cafes and bars to refill your tanks.
This one’s definitely high on my list of weekend hikes. Bring comfy shoes and lots of camera storage!

A must to put on your list of places to visit. Views were breathtaking. We arrived just as opening 9.30. When leaving coaches were arriving, I was so glad we went early.

15th century fort on the rocky peninsula, impressive views of the cliffs and Atlantic Ocean. Fabulous trail around the area. There is a Lighthouse of Ponta de Sagres, A Voz do Mar “chamber of sounds” maze installation, small museum with interactive exhibition and a lovely gift shop, €3 entrance, free big car park.

Very cool place to walk around and soak in some history. It's also neat to see some local fishermen casting their lines off the cliff side. A great place to spend some time and enjoy Sagres.

This fortress offers a fascinating glimpse into the amazing seafaring past of Portugal. Geographically and historically it is a must-see because of it's unique and beautiful location. If you are a senior, tickets are very affordable and we paid the senior rate even though we were tourists.
The path around the peninsula offers breathtaking views so be sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Inside fortress - very good, not too big, modern museum about great geographic discoveries. Vasco da Gama and his team, all history of first steps of globalization. Fine animations in the Cinema, few minutes with good visual story without words.

Remarkable geographic point, interesting interactive museum, impressive ocean waves sound chamber, stunning views. I always wanted to see what is there, at the very edge of Iberian peninsula

This site at the most south-westerly edge of Europe is amazing. The fort itself is fortified with a wall only on one side, with the steep cliffs providing the protection on the other three sides. Inside the courtyard is the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Graça (Church of our Lady of Grace) from 1570, which was closed when we were there. Also on the courtyard is a Marker Stone Monument to Prince Henry the Navigator. More impressive is the walk out to the tip of the promontory with stunning views of the steep seaside cliffs and across to the lighthouse on the nearby Cabo de São Vicente. Several features are located within the area, including the "Voice of the Sea" a circular concrete structure which amplifies the sound of the sea waves in the grottos below ground. There are rare birds and flora here, although not much could be seen in November during our visit.

A stunning must see on your travels in the Algarve. The visitors centre has fabulous information about the history of the fortress. Walk the perimeter to see the fisherman, beaches and the boats making the way along the coast.

We visited Sagres, the southern most part of the Algarve, the fortress had some amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. It was a crazy windy afternoon and we were pushed along the walkway around the fortress. Note, (there’s an entry fee of 3 euros) for some truly amazing views.
We saw some very brave surfers out riding the waves. A quick dip of my feet in the ocean confirmed, that water was bone chilling cold.
On the way back we stopped at the Portimão Retail Centre to pick up some curry sauce at “the food Inc. and I saw Oxtails at the Anchun in the mall there, the prices weren’t too bad, I’d love to see how they cook these here, I’ll look for them at restaurants. I’ll definitely visit again in the summer to experience the beaches in the summer.

Has to be seen to be appreciated. Worth the effort to get out from Lagos. Bring good walking shoes.
The surfing here looked doable, too, but chilly. Beach is also worth a gander. Lots of hiking for the more adventurous.

Amazing for the history and for the views. The cliff fishermen blew our minds. 100 feet up from the ocean on a cliff, fishing. Wow! The walking area is fairly expansive and really gives a sense of the operation of days of old. While visiting, don't forget to bring your swim gear for the local Sagres beaches.

Outstanding experience. A wind and chill even in the summer, so take a jumper/jacket. It's surprisingly cheap and has many stunning views and historical points to look at. Well worth the trip. There are also some stunning beaches close by.

A window through time with artifacts dating back to the Moors, Days of Discovery, and modern Portuguese military. As you walk the expansive grounds you can imagine historic times where this fortress held its ground in defense of many would be invaders. Imagine the brave sailors trained by Prince Henry the Navigator setting sail through uncharted territories to bring back new world discoveries. Well worth the trip here.

Entrance was 3 euros and it is well worth it. The walk around took us about 2 hours in the end. Lots of great views of the coast line and it was a great day out.
