The building itself is absolutely beautiful with lots of ancient art and deco, and the staff was helpful and extremely professional and welcoming.

A beautifully maintained ruin. With incredible views over the surrounding area this stunning castle set in rock is a prime example of medieval architecture and a great place to visit. With informative boards and very helpful staff. Top notch

This lovely castle is perched at the top of the town. One access is through the fortifications and across a drawbridge. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The bar-cafe has one of those lovely old coffee machines with the eagle on top. The views are amazing from this vantage point. It is quite a walk to the centre of town, and especially a climb on the way back, but there are great restaurants to sample local gastronomy and excellent wines, as well as markets on Saturdays.

The historical building itself is marvellous. The level of service by the staff is amazing, the rooms are comfortable and cozy, with a spectacular view. The restaurant is a bit expensive, but worth the splurge for good food, good wine and hood service.

The tower is worth climbing up. There are many levels, make sure you all the way to the top, until you are on the roof of the tower.

We spent 15 minutes all in all, climbing up the 100 or so steps and taking pics and getting back down.

The tower is accessed by steps in the courtyard of the historic hotel.

The tower closes at 6pm usually but sometimes they have special events and close the tower at 12noon.

The view is terrific!

Superb in every way. From the moment you step in the door everything in 5star. The welcome at reception, the incredible furniture and furnishings, the elegant bedrooms. Dinner menu, wines and breakfast buffet -a gourmet's paradise. The Castelo is ideally situated for winery visits, sight seeing and a quick trip to Spain! We will be back.

Not much inside but great views. To access it go in the door of the hotel. On your left there are glass doors leading to a courtyard. Steps to the tower are on the left. Foyer of hotel is nice as well.

Beautiful poussada, they were very kind. 13th century tower connected which is open to climb and explore. Great viewpoint from all sides and a beautiful garden and pool! Great food

Astounding views of the Portuguese and Spanish countryside. The town is very charming. Beware the occasional bus tour. Castle access is free.

Best experience ever we only stayed a night but it was the best, we didn't want to leave but new experience were calling!
We will be back for a longer stay ❤

Cute little castle on the road between Lisbon and Madrid. Stop in for great views, an historic chapel and quaint little country town.
