Amazing place for a wedding! You can even have the whole pace for your guests. Besides the history of the place, a portuguese national heritage site, you also get the most amazing photos there.

WEDDING - SEPTEMBER 2022
My husband and I got married at this hotel and we would choose this venue over and over again a hundred times. When we first visited the hotel in 2019 to meet with the manager, Graca, we knew instantly that this was the right place. The wedding was initially planned for 2020, then covid postponed it twice until it finally happened in 2022. It was a pleasure working with Graca throughout the entire process and we never needed a wedding planner.

What we were looking for:
We wanted an architecturally unique and memorable place with space for 70 people. We wanted the guests to be able to stay at the venue or rent something near-by. We wanted amazing food and drinks, open bar and music until late (some places have restrictions on music). We wanted a Brazilian BBQ for lunch and a hotel that did their best to work with our wishes.

What we got:
An incredible venue, fantastic food, great vendor suggestions, great service from everyone at the hotel from start to finish, a fantastic party until 3 am and the most memorable stress-free day we could have ever wished for! With Gracas help, we never needed a wedding planner and we truly got everything we wanted.

More details:
It is hard to describe the beauty of this place. It looks and feels like the old ruin that is was, restored perfectly by the Portuguese architect Souto de Moura. The hotel looks beautiful from all angles and became a gorgeous backdrop in all our photos. With beautiful Thonet-chairs, orange trees and the lush greenery of the place, we only needed a minimal amount of decor for the wedding. On the day itself, Graca was not there, but Joana had 100% control and made sure the day went according to plan. She helped us stay on schedule and made sure everything was the way it should be.

It was perfect for 70 guests, but could easily accommodate for more. We were lucky with the weather, but the hotel also had great indoor options in case of rain. We closed the hotel so only our guests had access to the entire venue. Since most people stayed two nights, it was great hanging by the pool the next day with friends and family. Highly recommended. There was no trouble finding accommodation for everyone.

The hotel provided us with a list of vendors they had worked with before and this is where we found our DJ+Lights (DJ Rui Almeida) and ceremony celebrant (Lara Marques) who both did a fantastic job. The hotel helped us book babysitters for families with small children. We decided not to have a traditional wedding cake, but to use the hotel's signature dessert as cake instead. The hotel restaurant then presented the desert in cake-form so we could cut it in the traditional way. It was magical with string lights and all the guests holding sparklers. The kitchen staff did an incredible job and the food was amazing. Menus were adapted for people with allergies. We highly recommend eating at the hotel restaurant. We went there in 2019, 2020 and then for the wedding. It was a pleasure each time.

We could not have had a better wedding, and we are so so thankful to everyone at the Hotel Pousada Mosteiro de Amares. It was everything we had hoped and wished for and it will always have a special place in our hearts. Thank you!

Absolutely incredible experience. The hotel was beautiful, rooms were beautiful, food was delicious, and staff was incredible.

We were so happy with our stay here. It was perfect. The front desk staff was so nice and Tiago was so helpful with our bags. We loved the entire waitstaff! We ate dinner at the restaurant 3 times in a row and each dining experience was better than the next. Also the breakfast was amazing too! Do yourself a favor and book this hotel!!

This is an absolute jem. We booked a couple of days during a rainy spring time and this is definitely a place to recharge energies away from city life. Although the monastery external look, the rooms have an outstanding architecture, fusing old and new. Lovely breakfast and dinner should also be tried. This is definitely part of my list, of favorite hotels in Portugal.

We‘ve stayed one night at the Pousada Mosteiro Amares and, since it was November, the weather wasn‘t great so we could not explore the surroundings. However, the Pousada itself has so much to offer, as it‘s a 12th century monastery, renovated into a hotel by a renowned Portuguese architect. Lots of corners to explore and just a beautiful concept.

Beautiful renovated monastery and church. Lots of arches within. Extremely atmospheric. Gorgeous courtyard with 4 little stoney fountains and arched terraces. The dining are was superb especially the are back of the room beside the large old fireplaces. I think it was an old bell tower of some sorts. There is a lift and lots of steps to entrance. The pool is lovely and you feel very much in the country side. You reach the pool ,which is outdoor , descending quite a few stone steps. It's very private. The staff were pleasant. We had only breakfast there and it was excellent. I think the beautiful dining room added to the food !! We got a delicious Pizza in a little bar, with out side plastic seating , just a few minutes drive from Amares village. It's on a corner and pizza was excellent and cheap . The village is small and hilly but nice to walk around. You can get great photos of the Pousada from high up in the village.

Pousada Mosteiro de Amares is magical. My husband and I hosted our wedding celebrations there in August 2022, after two COVID-related postponements. Throughout that time, the hotel - specifically Graca and Joana - continued to be incredibly supportive, ensuring us that despite the delays the wedding would go ahead and they would do everything possible to make it magical! And they really did - the weekend could not have gone more smoothly. All of our guests continued commenting on the beauty of the venue, the professionalism of the staff, the tastiness of the food and overall amazing time they had. Could not recommend this Pousada more - for a holiday or for a wedding!

This hotel is a stunningly beautiful and peaceful location to spend a night or two. It’s spacious halls and grounds are especially nice for city folk who are used to noise and smaller spaces. It was quite breathtaking both day and night.

If you are looking for a special hotel, with peace, tranquillity and relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to be. A very historic building with modern comfort made or stay a lasting memory, also because our son got married there. Served breakfast and good restaurant are available as well, like swimming pool and great view. Enjoy 😎🤩

Impressive Pousada nicely refurbished by Eduardo Souto de Moura. Even the furniture has been specifically designed for this Pousada, located in an old monastery with lush and beautiful gardens. Huge fireplace perfect to lounge around. The restaurant serves excellent food, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The Terras de Bouro area is such an amazing place, with great landscapes and lakes. Definitely this is a “place to go” if you want to relax, recharge batteries and enjoy nature. Congratulations for such a nice Pousada!

Romantic, sensitively and tastefully restored - cloisters and corridors take you back to medieval times - if you've dreamed of experiencing life 500 years or so ago but want 20th C comfort and service - this is the place for you.
Portuguese warmth and kindness, authentic monastic aspects, amazing food and rooms, contemplative and calming rooms with good original art, huge breakfasts and dripping with atmosphere. Set right at base of national park too. Pool is secluded, garden charming ... never wanted to leave ... you can even roam the monastery at night, watching the owl hunt from the top of the church and pretending you're in your own medieval mystery.
