Restaurante Jale

The best fish, the best service, the best people! We had three amazing meals here on our trip to Graciosa. The fish is some of the freshest and most beautifully prepared that we have ever had.

Very nice fried fish (crispy on the outside, moist on the inside), fresh greens, potato’s and garlic bread. Served with a tasty seasoned oil on the side. Attentive service and the chef came out and explained which fish we had enjoyed.

We passed this place a couple of times looking for it but it does exists. They have a nice set up here, casual kind of place. There are two sides. The snack bar and a restaurant. The food was really good, especially the garlic bread. As well as the service. They don't speak English so learn some Portuguese.

The owner is very welcoming. The fish was great. Some of us had grilled and others fried. We ate in the bar area, which wasn’t beautiful, but the food was worth it. If the weather is nice there is an outdoor area.

Simple but delicious food from a humble place. Nothing pretentious.

FYI this is the only place to eat between 3pm and 6pm on the island

Since our arrival on Graciosa, we have made a habit of eating at Jale. It is worth the trip just for their garlic bread which is literally the best we have ever had. (A person at a nearby table exclaimed she was in extasy!) Jale is the only place we have found on the island that offers fresh grilled fish—all of which are on display. You can take your pick!

When we told them my wife has a special medical diet, they went out of their way to ensure her meal not only met her restrictions but was delicious.

We have lived in Portugal for over five year. Who would expect we would find one of the best restaurants on the island of Graciosa?

The service is personable and efficient, while still making you feel you are with family.

Excellent food, and menu variety the portions are good size. The grilled fish and Lapas are amazing. Definitely should be on the top of your list of places to eat and enjoy the food during your stay in the beautiful Island of Graciosa!

Very friendly service (my Portuguese isn't great, their English was better), and incredible food. The chef brought out the fish to help me learn what was what before ordering. Island cheese with honey, wonderful Portuguese bread, excellent fish - a great experience all around.

came here after season and throughout my short stay felt like i was the only tourist on the island. but i don't think this was the reason why owners of this real gem treated me in any special way. i suspect they are always like that: super friendly, helpful and they really know their job. ate here twice and both fish were delicious, probably best i've eaten in a long long time. the place may seem humble but well, it's not about decors, it's about food. and you can choose your fresh fish from a fridge on the door. highly recommended! tbh, though, i haven't checked any other restaurants in graciosa, after the first dinner here it would be silly to risk.

This is a wonderful place to eat. The chef showed us the fresh fish which we then ordered. It was grilled to perfection, and served with a lovely selection of local vegetables. The candied squash was fantastic. Everything was made with care. The Alfosin Grelhado was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had and at €9.50 it was an exceptional deal.

Depois de uma viagem atribulada e chegarmos ao restaurante às 14h30, fomos muito bem recebidos pela Marta e foi ainda possível almoçar. Voltámos para jantar mais duas vezes e a Sónia recebeu-nos igualmente bem. Comemos as deliciosas iguarias feitas pela Marisa! Um obrigado a todas!

Ich esse seit 30 Jahren viel (gegrillten) Fisch, aber hier hab ich den besten meines Lebens gegessen. Wein auch super! Dringende Empfehlung! Toller Laden!

Dos vários restaurantes que visitei na ilha, a minha recomendação a 100% recai sobre este.
Em primeiro lugar, os proprietários são pessoas muito atenciosas, corteses e, acima de tudo, profissionais. Sabem lidar com o cliente e têm prazer nisso. Falta muito na restauração desta ilha esse tipo de atitude!
As doses são muito generosas, apelativas e oferecem uma excelente relação preço/qualidade.
Não tive oportunidade de experimentar o prato do dia, mas pessoas bem chegadas falaram-me muito bem do misto de peixe frito.
Jantei aqui por duas vezes e saí muito satisfeito com os filetes de peixe porco e com os bifes de carne de porco.
As regras da COVID são escrupulosamente cumpridas.
Caso eu vá novamente à Graciosa não hesitarei em visitar este restaurante e recomendo-o a todos os viajantes.
