Quinta do Refugio is an old farm in the outskirts of Lagos where in previous times people cultivated olive, fig and almond trees, as well as grains like wheat, rye and barley. The farm as been given up for about 30 years and now we are gradually replanting the same types of trees and when possible also the old varieties. There will also be a smaller scale experimental growing of exotic trees like frankincense as well as small plantations of traditional deciduous trees like the Lusitanian Oak tree native of the nearby Monchique Mountain.
