Historical Village of Piódão

Beautiful village, totally worth the visit.

The sad thing is many tourists are visiting, and it seems almost no locals are living there.
Store owners who want to push sales ruin a little bit of the genuine feeling.

You can walk around and explore by yourself, it’s incredible.

It was completely empty, we actually found a store that sold some magnets but there wasn’t anyone around.
the restaurants were closed because it was after the close time (covid rules restaurants closing at 1pm)
It’s very very beautiful, we were very lucky, it was not raining at the moment so we were able to explore it and take a walk to the bridge it was very nice.
I want to visit again 🥰

Beautiful spot tucked deep in the mountains - you need nerves of steel to drive the twisty roads in and out but well worth it. They are currently repaving the square but when works are complete it will be stunning. Good cafe by Square sells reasonably priced food and drink. Limited parking.

One of the most beautiful villages in Portugal, located in a valley in the middle of the forest.
There are a couple of tracks by the river, so bring your boots, coat (in the winter) and camera and enjoy the nature in its purest state.

Amazing Village in the middle of nowhere. Absolut must visit when in the Sierra da Estrella. Tiny Houses, narrow streets and incredible houses.

It's a little village in the hills made almost entirely of stone. Really cool place. All of the streets and buildings look similar giving the entire village an unique vibe. I haven't been to many places like it before or since. When I was there it was summer yet there were not many tourists and the locals were pretty chill.

Amazing village!! Go there, and get lost in the narrow streets.

Awesome place to visit and check the houses made of schist. Try the local liquors and their pool, it's really worth it.

Typical village built in stone in a natural and protected environment, being part of the Aldeias de Xisto.
Amazing streets with many kind street sellers of many of the local treaties.
Great also for a swim in the natural pool, after a good lunch in local taverns.
Accessible parking and reasonable prices for licours and souvenirs. #visitpiodao 🇵🇹😍

Beautiful village from the historical Portuguese villages.
The roads to there are difficult but amazing... go on a sunny and clear day to enjoy the road trip

Old village that has got a new life as a touristic attraction. Beautiful nature, impressive old buildings made of stone.

Must see place! It worth the obstacles we faced before (heavy road to the village and fog).

Very cute little village with unique buildings and style. Probably nit easy to park there in high season. You have a few hikes going from the village to nearby villages, streams, hilltops. The forest fires in 2017 destroyed some of the nearby mountain sides but luckily Piodao survived.

Magical historic village constructed entirely of slate stone. Beautiful location and a must if you are in the area.

Very beautiful village with unique houses. The road to get here is a bit "crazy" but it worth it.
