Avery well maintained historic park. There is plenty of parking and nice clean restrooms. There was no entry fee on the day I went. The main structure was a marvel to look at even if parts were restored. This is not a very big site so it’s easy to see everything in less than a hour.

I have been coming here for many years, the last time being 6 years ago. The site has been improved over the years and is excellent. The Information Centre which is a new addition is superb. The whole setup is to be commended and very much worth a visit.

Beauty meets elegance historical park in Sakeaw province. Open at 9.00-16.30. We came right at the place a bit late, around 17.00 something but luckily the security guy was very kind, he allowed us to go in. We have a good opportunity to capture this exquisite castle with the twighlight background. Glad to visit.

Beautiful location close to the Cambodian border. I was surprised how quiet it was given how amazing the structure is. It was free to enter. I'd thoroughly recommend visiting

Wow. Amazing place to visit. We visited on the weekend and we're the only ones here. Very beautiful and such history.

Visited early December 2022, very well presented museum and short film about the site. Grounds well maintained, and stunning old Khmer temple. Staff very polite and helpful. Place deserves more visitors but selfishly great to be the only people there. Free entrance.

Visit 6th March 2022. The top site for historical parks in Thailand. 1. Tourist signage, maps, information clearly marked. 2. Lots of Parking. 3. Helpful staff. 4. Clean modern toilets. 5. Well maintained buildings and grounds, shady areas. 6. No Tourist charges (free).
I've visited many of these parks around Thailand. This would be by far the best non-commercial (free) one I've been to. Highly recommended.

Very tranquil place. The Information Center is very well done - better than anything at Ayutthaya or Sukhothai.

This ancient temple ruin off the beaten path teleports one directly into an Indiana Jones movie, I almost expected to stumble upon a trap door leading to terrible hazards and incredible treasures. It's like Angkor Wat, but obviously much smaller. But the upside? There are hardly any tourists, we spent 2 hours at this place and the better part of the time, we had the place to ourselves (was on a weekday though, don't know how busy weekends are). We had a local guide with us who explained a few features to us, which was super interesting, but had we not, we'd still enjoy the tranquil time travel into ancient times.

Well worth the visit if you are in the area, its also not busy at all as its not a very touristy area so you can get great pictures. Take a bottle of water and dont forget there is a cinema room which is air conditioned properly where you can cool off after your walk!

Its also FREE!

Newly renovated khmer castle/temple used historically for hindu rituals. The complex is not large but there are lots of trees and seats around. Nicely maintained. Good for a half hour visit. No entrance fee and there's a large parking lot.

Well worth the visit. I first visited here in 2005 and there has been many improvements since then. Very well run by the Thai Fine Arts Department.

A beautiful Khemer temple on the border between Cambodia and Thailand.
A little difficult to get to but well worth it!!
We had a great ride to get to the temple and the border security were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking once you get there.

LOTS OF HISTORY HERE. I'll provide photos of signage that can give the official story line. You'll see at this location that theres Nothing Modern About Abstract Art and if your looking you'll probably want to visit.
This location really is out in the middle of nowhere, difficult to find and the army is active along the Cambodian border. We won't discuss why that is.
For me, I like to look closely at things and this location will probably give you a desire to do the same. It is possible to travel back and forth from Bangkok in one day and enjoy the travel, so even a rental car is not out of the question should you decide to engage the journey, it's more spectacular in person.

Perfect place for a historical explorers, oldest Hindu temple 🛕 in this region (as they said)

the largest Khmer temple in eastern Thailand. The temple was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Constructed by a prominent priestly family, Sdok Kok Thom is best known as the original site of one of the most illuminating inscriptions left behind by the Khmer Empire, which ruled much of Southeast Asia from the end of the 9th century to the 15th century. Completed in 11th century

Nice complex with quite surrounding. They close at 4:30, if you are interested for quite nice photos and bit meditation then thai is good place. Bit far if drive from Bangkok. Close to the boarder

An interesting place to visit - the original structure dates back nearly 1000 years and was crumbling to bits. However the Thai's have restored it to its original glory and it's a nice historical place to visit.
It's quite small but has a visitor's center that explains it's history including the restoration.

A well maintained Khmer ruin in pretty good condition, with a beautifully maintained garden inside and a small wetland nearby. Entrance was free, even for non-citizens.

Town in Thailand

Aranyaprathet is a town in Sa Kaeo province in eastern Thailand. It covers the entire tambon of Aranyaprathet, in Aranyaprathet district. As of 2005, the town has 16,937 inhabitants. It is located just 6 kilometres from the border with Cambodia; the town of Poipet is on the other side of the border. On the Thai side of the border is the huge Rongkluea market. Cambodian people cross the border daily with pushcarts and scooters with side cars loaded with their products. A significant part of the trade is in second hand clothes. Just over the border on the Cambodian side there are casinos. These are visited by many Thai people because gambling is prohibited in Thailand. Special free buses run between Bangkok and these casinos. Cambodians themselves are not allowed to gamble in these border casinos. source
