Riverhouse Hotel (The Teak House)

Great View over the river.staff were super friendly breakfast was great very enjoyable to look over the river in enjoy breakfast. I'm small little bar for after hours cocktails.
My only complaint as is anywhere in Thailand the bad feels like a box Spring.

Small and cozy wooden hotel by the river in Mae Sariang. Been coming back to this hotel everytime we do Mae Hong Son loop. The place is very homey, rooms are clean and beds are comfy. The owner lives on site, he also cook for the small restaurant.

Great hotel perfectly situated in town. As long as other guests are considerate with noise as requested it's awesome. They are clear that the building is old and that sound carries; It feels a bit like you're on a ship with all the beautiful teak! Beds really comfy, staff lovely, but food needs work. Awesome deck with views for drinks.

All-teak building that is beautifully maintained. Great furnishings and facilities- hot, high pressure shower. Breakfast with bottomless coffee is good. Little balcony with a riverview. Friendly, helpful staff. After a long day on the bike, I was able to get massage services done in-room and it was so helpful, ask reception.

I've had breakfast here, nice place with a selection of Asian and western dishes. Coffee is nice too

Beautiful view towards the river. Expect footsteps of other guests as the whole accommodation is made of wood. Have mosquito repellent with you as you might get some blood suckimg visitors. Make Early dinner reservations cause the restaurants close early.

The hotel is situated on the river with stunning views of the mountains in the background.
Perfectly clean, bed very comfy, great A/C, excellent WiFi. The staff are really nice and go out of their way to help you.
There is a nice swimming pool at their sister hotel Riverside Resort.
It is a bit more expensive than places we normally stay, but we’ll worth the extra cost. Highly recommend

The hotel is great, clean and has beautiful views. The restaurant has great food and amazing river views. The swimming pool is really big and on the river which was great for a lazy sunny day.
And to top it all off the staff is incredibly helpful, nice, accommodating and speaks English really well.

Clean, beautiful space, very calm atmosphere. Breakfast was however not the most interesting. Nevertheless I would still recommend this to travelers looking for comfortable and beautiful accommodation.

In more detail: The hotel is made almost entirely from wood, which gives it a very welcoming, traditional, feel-at-home-atmosphere. Rooms are a bit basic, with tv and aircon but exactly what we were looking for. The balcony offers a good view over the river. The restaurant overlooking the river is the true gem in this town: we stayed here for two nights and have to admit: we loved every dish. Stayed here for two nights, highly recommended!

This place is unique of the wooden rooms.
The location is superb along with the Yuam river. You can just do nothing on your private balcony, seeing the trickle river or reading the favourite book, everything here looks calm and cool.
Thai foods are also recommended. If it is not your satisfaction, pastas are also available.

Stayed this time on a bike tour. Great to be able to clean bikes off after a dirty ride. Had a corner room this time, really spacious. Enjoyed the food, loved the stir-fried beef with Thai basil.
The river was in spate, and led to great views everyday of the Yuam flowing past.

Nice old-style architecture in good part of town. Breakfast included home-made peanut butter and jelly for the toast. Great relaxing river view with balcony. Competitive pricing. Friendly and comprehensive guest service. Will stay again.

They got everything you need for a traveller - friendly staffs, great owner (who is also a chef), quiet, peaceful, great location (the hotel is just right next to the river), A lovely minibar, an open terrace restuarant, and private car parking lot for guests. Clean room, large bed, good aircon, warm shower, private balcony.

The building is a 20 years old teak-wood, 3 stories house, old but not outdated and also well-maintained. A must stay when you are in Maesariang.

Absolutely delightful. The manager she is lovely, kind and helpful. Staff is really friendly and professional. Breakfast is very good and dinner delicious!!! Fried vegetables are a must. The building is completely made on teak wood, the room is very spacious, bed is comfortable and bathroom is also good. Overall experience was superb, they allowed us to borrow their bikes and we extensively explored the valley, cool local area if you look for something authentic. Pure slow life.

Probably one of the most satisfying holidays I have had. A quiet small town with a surprisingly high quality hotel.
This hotel made of teak wood provides a homely and relaxing experience. A five star quality lodging at three star pricing (about US$35/night).
While the location is a little out of the way (a three hours car ride from Chiang Mai), that is also exactly the reason why there are minimal tourist, and the entire experience feels more authentic, unlike the tourist attractions in Chiang Mai.
The charming lady boss speaks perfect English and French. She was formerly a news anchor in a TV station, but left her job to help in her family business.
Highly recommend this place to those looking for a quiet getaway with nothing to do, just some quiet reading and walkabout (must visit the night market for street food).
A nearby 7-Eleven provides all the little amenities needed, just in case you forgot to bring something.

The Riverhouse Resort is a great place to stay in Mae Sariang. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. The location is nice and peaceful and sitting in the garden along the river was quite relaxing. We'll definitely be coming back!
