Zanzibar House

We stayed at Zanzibar House for 7 days with 2 other couples so we had 3 rooms. As this place is also the owner home and our group took up most of the rooms, we felt like we had an Oceanside villa all to ourselves. As the beds had mosquito nets, we left our Oceanside room doors wide open at night and the breeze and smells were amazing. The complex is kept very clean and the staff became friends. We had our breakfast and dinners included. Every night Max came over to see if we have any favourites to suggest for the next day. The meals are Italian based with a local flair. We are all fish eaters so, with a local fish dish most evenings, we were very happy. We have eaten all over the world and the dinners at Zanz House rivalled the best we have experience. If we had one “ complaint” it was that meals started at 7:30 which is very very late for us but we gave it our best shot 🥰 Max even sent his Chef to a local beach where he prepared lobster, prawns, calamari and all the trimmings, complete with chilled wine after our snorkelling day. Outstanding and a highlight for us. Reviewers on this site that rated this hotel under a 5* forget where they were. Totally remote, on an icing sugar beach, with 5* dining and service and exceptional staff. Quirks with water, musty smells all comes with the remoteness and ocean air. We can’t say thank you enough for our retreat to end our African vacation. Zanzibar House will be among our favourites!

An absolutely stunning place. Beautiful setting, very friendly and accommodating hosts and staff. Went there to have a meal and it was delicious. Had a set menu dinner (which they change every day), Italian meatball dish, a fettuccine pasta dish, a pepper fillet dish and a delicious desert. We also had our first bottle of Italian red wine, a Syrah, and it complemented the food very well.

Max was adorable, he was very careful with us and prepared several good personalized italian dishes, according to our desires, every evening. The brishetta was very well. We eat the best Italian food here.
The staff are also very involved and very caring. the hotel is well located near to the beach, very clean and with a good design which allows us to fully enjoy this haven of peace.We can also play different game with friend and familly and enjoy the pool.
The hotel is not too far from evry attractions and you can also negotiate a good price with the taxi for the ride or the attractions.

Loved this family run beach house hotel. The rooms are on the second floor so the view over the water is great. Loved the private balcony to sit and listen to the surf - when high tide. The sea goes way out at low tide so it is amazing to walk so far out and be knee deep. The family take care of your needs and it is intimate. Yes it is a long ride into Stone Town but that is part of the charm and I would recommend renting a car. Food is Italian style which we enjoyed. The staff were great and were pleased to get whatever we needed. There are plenty of games available such as a pool table, chess sets, etc. There were always sun chairs available so no problems as at larger places where sun chairs can be taken. The family also have a boat for snorkelling and diving onsite so it is easy to book and they are very relaxing to go with. Coffee is instant but pod coffee can be purchased and the wine is not the best, but this is Zanzibar, those would be the only negatives. You can arrange a massage onsite too or a romantic dinner on the private table overlooking the beach. We loved the personalised care of a smaller place and yet we felt too we could be private. An amazing mix and with all the pluses of diving arranged onsite and from the hotel and massages onsite. We also did the half board which worked really well.

Luxury place. We had a room with a sea view, which rooms have a big veranda with see-saw chair. Everything is very stylish. A bit too lot of service, as for me. A sea during the high tide is a bit grassy, this I actually liked more at the south of the iceland.

Beautiful hotel with 7 rooms right at the beach. Very calm area and not many tourists at the beach (gets cleaned everyday).
Food is delicious, for $15 you get a 4 course dinner menu. At the bar you get good shisha too.
The staff is nice and very helpful.
Massage was great.
Wifi was availabe everywhere (room, restaurant, beach).
You can pay in Eur, Usd, Tsh, credit card.

We had an awesome stay in the hotel and we would come back for sure. Everything was great! The food was delicious (especially dinner), everyone was very friendly and helpful! We (family & friends) were there for a wedding and for our vacation – everything was just perfect! The manager/ hotel owner(s) organized the beach wedding perfectly. Thank you!

Had a few amazing lunches here. I love the vibe and the pool table and games is a great addition especially when you have kids.

Food was great, and service 10/10.

We used their scuba diving gear and scuba services. Thank you Asheri for a fantastic deep sea diving experience . Definitely one of the highlights during my holiday.

This place was amazing. The staff was wonderful and the room was well appointed. A great value for travelers looking to have a bit of luxury while still being on a budget.

Went here for a deep tissue masage while in Zanzibar.It was really good and professional,althought not super deep.The masage 'room' has lovely views just off the beach.The prices are the most reasonable I saw in the Matemwe area.They also allowed us to lie on the sunloungers and under the umbrellas for the morning at no cost.totally worth the outing.

It's is very nice beach and view. It's boutique hotel. And it's really zanzibar style like it's name ( zanzibar house) don't miss to go.

This place is superb! Just nearby the clean and cool beach, has a good swimming pool, good sitting environment and cool staffs. Good value for money!

Great atmosphere, great seaside setting, great management in Suleman, great chef in Esau, great waitering in Nicolas. All round above my expectations.

It was great 😊💕, awesome service, 24/7 Wi-Fi, it was a magnificent experience y'all need to try it out.
