Maisha Matamu Beach Hotel & Restaurant Paje

I cannot recommend this place enough! Great location and wonderful staff! I screwed up with my booking and arrived a week earlier but they were very accommodating and provided us with a room for the entire week. Many thanks for a wonderful stay

A great mid range hotel on the beach. The bungalows aren’t air conditioned but the other rooms are. Clean, comfortable and 30m to the beach. Free breakfast too which was very good. It’s no 5* resort but for the price is a great deal/location and the staff is super friendly!

The first time when I was in Sansibar, was in June. I visited Masha matum for dinner and spent a lot of time at the beach and had a great time with relaxing and good food. I did my hair from Natasha, the service was very good. They were all kind and helpful. The crew management, namend Chaz was very kind, always helpful, did great cocktails for drinking.
That was the reason I came in October the second time to this hotel. The crew manager Chaz reminded of me and did the same cocktail as the last time. That was very great bc I felt very lifted. He is smiling all the time!

We loved the view of the bluest beach 😍. The pool on the property was very clean, with a view of the ocean. Food and drinks at restaurant was great and affordable. Walking distance from activities in the town, Paje.

We had a great stay at the hotel. Shaibu (Manager) is great. He provides you with great deals for trips and everything if you want to, as he knows anyone in Paje.

The hotel offers kite surfing and massages, but snorkeling, diving or other trips can also be organized.

The food is great and very safe. We had eggs benedict every morning and never had any stomache issues.

The hotel is very clean and safe. The rooms are very comfortable though simple. The showers are great.

The spot of the beach is great. You can walk anywhere in Paje, but it is not so close that the beach would be to crowed.

We stayed for two weeks and it was the best time for our family. The staff members were very very nice and we grew close to them, they treated our daughter so well. The food is amazing, all fresh and home made meals und constantly very good quality. The rooms are really convenient and it’s easy to move around, it’s like you’re staying on the beach. We definitely will be coming back! Asante sana!

The hotel is right on the beach, so an amazing spot. Lots of different bars and restaurants close by. All the staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The rooms are spotless and spacious. I love staying here and have stayed many times.

Best hotel in paje by far. There is a new owner since 3 months since then A lot of things changed. So the old reviews don’t count. Amazing view on the ocean. Super clean rooms. The cleaning lady’s come 2 times a day. Possibility to wash clothes. The breakfast is included and really really good. Also lunch an dinner can be eaten here. Waiters and rest of the staff, everyone is in a good mood. You feel welcome since the first second. 100% recommendation

Had a really nice stay at Maishu Matamu. Located directly at the beach with a nice pool and a good restaurant. Kite Surfing schools and multiple restaurants everywhere close by. A lot of places to go out as well in the nearer area but the hotel itself is calm enough to get a good night sleep. The service was really nice and the rooms clean and comfortable. Hope to come back soon!

The restaurant is right next to the beach.
There are also luxury rooms and rustic bungalows.
The staff is very kind.
Children can be supervised from a distance as everything is open.
The food is very good!

Lovely hotel right on the beach in Paje! Shaibu is super helpful and responsive when booking. Clean, comfortable room. Great breakfast! Wish I could have stayed longer!

Super stuff, the night security is a superb person and the owner is available to listen and help any of your needs. Kitchen staff is excellent, location is amazing and whenever there is a problem all the staff is ready to help. We had an amazing experience also thanks to Maisha Matamu staff and hotel, from the adorable cleaning ladies to security.

Me and my wife was the first time to visit Zanzibar;Maisha Matamu organized my transfer pick up from the airport with a very reasonable price and a good air conditioning car.nice welcoming at the reception with a very charming and a big smile at the reception.
We had breakfast and dinner for 5 nights ,the food was amazing compare with the other restaurant nearby and the price are cheap as well.James at the bar very charming barman.
the Jungle masaage is incredible as we had fully body massage .
The room is super clean as the ladies in room attendant are suer women.
I will recommend to everyone who want to visit Zanzibar to be their destination.

The stuff gives you best time and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is served to tables on a nice building on the beach. Rooms are nice with air conditioning and balcony. We were six members family and stayed for six nights in 3 rooms.

Really amazing food! We have tried few restaurants on the beach but neither can beat it up...not even close! Super wonderful! Applause to chef!

We didn't stay, we only had dinner at the restaurant.
Amazing service, the best food I ever tried in Zanzibar. Prices are more than fine, compare with the rest of restaurants around.

Next time we come to Zanzibar we will absolutely stay here.

Great place with a very friendly and funny staff. The owner helped us a lot and is a very nice person in general.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay and we will gladly recommend to anyone back home in Denmark.

My friends and I had a lovely weekend getaway in Paje and especially at Maisha Matamu… The name says alot about our experience here ‘Life is sweet’! The pool is lovely and clean, rooms well kept and the hospitality is top notch especially from Moussa! We will definitely be back here for another amazing time

Best stay in Paje. Best entrance, Best ambient with coco trees, beach is relaxing, and the rooms are clean with everything you need. Staff is so nice, makes you feel like home
