Block House

A surprising gem in the downtown of Alma.
Passing through Alma we decided to grab brunch at the Block House and we were pleasantly surprised!
I started with a solid cup of coffee, very good. Perusing the menu my friend who needs gluten free options had plenty to choose from and all of the main dietary restrictions were labeled clearly. The fresh fruit was ripe and sweet. My GF friend got the chorizo skillet - it was so colorful with purple and sweet potatoes and the smoky adobo sauce was really good. I split the egg Benedict with another friend, there was almost too much chorizo on the southwest eggs Benedict but I wasn’t about to complain about that! Really great flavors overall and food came fairly quickly too.
We didn’t realize this was an e-sports bar and actually had never been in one before. It was pretty cool! We didn’t partake in the gaming but those who did were into it.
The restrooms were clean and well maintained and the service was friendly, quick, and knowledgeable about the menu.
Next time I’m driving through Alma I’ll be back!

Abigail was our server. The service was outstanding. She real was super attentive. The food was really good. I got the Smash Burger! Yummy! Oh! The Schnitzel Sandwich is fabulous!I would recommend to anyone who loves Great service and good food!

One of the most amazing, surprising atmosphere and food. This wouldn't have been my restraunt of choice. However we randomly ate here and I am so glad we did.
Food was amazing as well as the specialty drinks. A very unique amazing atmosphere, honestly ro unique to put into words. If you have to travel hours to get there, do it! I hope the pictures do it justice.

Reservations gave us premium seating with amazing food and great service! Excellent vegetarian selection!

We went here on a date night and loved every part of our visit! The food was unique and incredible, the drinks were good, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very nice. Prices were a bit on the high side but definitely worth it! We can’t wait to return!

I'll admit, I'm not much of a video game enthusiast, but Blockhouse in Alma, MI, has managed to impress me nonetheless. While gaming is a big part of its charm, there's so much more to this establishment that makes it a hit.

Firstly, the food is exceptional. The menu is consistently impressive, offering a variety of choices that never fail to delight. Each visit brings a new, satisfying culinary experience. And when it comes to drinks, they truly excel. Their Espresso Martini is the best I've ever had – a must-try for anyone visiting.

However, it's worth noting that the service can be somewhat inconsistent. There are times when the staff is absolutely amazing - attentive, efficient, and going above and beyond to cater to your needs. But then, there are moments when it feels like they're operating at half capacity. During these times, service can lag, and you might find yourself waiting longer than expected or feeling overlooked.

That said, it's clear that management is dedicated to providing a great experience. They genuinely care and often step in to ensure guests' expectations are not just met but exceeded. Additionally, the bartenders deserve a special mention for their efforts to compensate whenever the floor staff isn't at their best.

Despite the occasional service hiccups, which are few and far between, Blockhouse is definitely worth a visit. Whether you're looking for a slightly upscale meal or a round of top-notch drinks, this place won't disappoint. It's a unique blend of good food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere, making it a standout spot in Alma, MI.

What a hidden Gem in the small town of Alma. The college has backed this restaurant to include the eSports club and pull in college kids. However it still holds for a great meal for the larger audience. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out and maybe grab a hour rental on your fav game too!

Met up with family in Alma. This restaurant was great. The blackbean burger was well prepared and tasty. We also enjoyed the bowl with pork belly. Great breads. Service was fantastic.

Don't be deceived. Sure it's part internet/gaming cafe, bar and restaurant. The food is way better than 'bar food'. The atmosphere is fun. Nice spot in the heart of Alma.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch. It is an awesome place. You can play video games, enjoy a glass of wine and have a delicious meal. The pistachio gelato was amazing. The decor is beautiful. It’s clean. Our server Ethan was so interesting to talk to. He has lead a great life for being 23. We will for sure be back.

Stopped by for lunch while visiting the area. Even though there isn't a ton of options (which we knew beforehand), the food was fantastic and worth the price! Our waitress, Andrea, was super sweet and helped us with anything we needed! We loved being able to play while we waited for our food and playing after! $5 for an hour of play? Worth. It. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area!

Absolutely love this place, will be back many times with many more people to experience this place, the drinks we ordered was also amazing and I love the balance of the menu. Very modern design inside and they have every form of gaming which is awesome

Everything about this place was great! Loved watching the games, the drinks were good and the appetizers were on point. The server/bartender was helpful, positive and on point. On the whole, really hope to come here again very soon!

I don't remember the last time I ate food this delicious at a restaurant. Jaidyn took care of us all evening, she was on top of everything and fun to chat with. I will gladly drive 25 minutes for a meal this tasty and the excellent service.

The maple sauce that comes with the duck is outrageously flavorful. The pork with the rice is so tender. Patatas Bravas has a creamy cheesy sauce on the bottom, a spicy sauce on top, and together, with the crispy potatoes, is pure magic. The sesame fried cauliflower makes cauliflower way cooler than it has ever been. The picture of the Bananas Foster speaks for itself!

Lastly, the cocktails are solid. Great variety and made extremely well.

I went to one of their frequent special events, the latest was a murder mystery. I've also been to BBQ and other summer events. The murder mystery last night was super fun, interactive, most of us played a role in the mystery with pre-written parts and lines but room to ad lib as we wanted. Sadly, I did not get the role of the murderer. The food was great, we had a special drink and could order from the regular menu. The host kept us laughing and engaged.

Block House is fun with great, innovative food and drinks. Kids can be entertained with the video games. It's one of my favorite places, thanks for the adventure, even though I didn't guess the murderer correctly.

Block House has the best craft cocktails and wonderful food. Robust flavors and very unique for the area. Love it!

Kyle is the BEST!

This place is great for parents and kids. After they eat the kids can play games on every platform for only a few dollars per hour. They have all the newest and most popular games. The menu changes periodically with the seasons. The menu is very eclectic, well plated and delicious. I love that I can relax with my wife or friends while the kids are entertained.

Had the Smash Burger and My Wife had Butter Chicken. OMG, It was THE BEST!! Atmosphere was pleasant, the feel of older shop restaurants has a taste of its own I'd Highly Recommend checking this place out.

I’m a Mount Pleasant guy; but I always make the drive down to Alma for Block House’s selection of beer and food, along with the gaming theme. My personal favorite is their smash burger w/ extra onion and a cold beer (UPA), a great mix of flavor and refreshment. Kyle and the rest of the staff are fantastic and attentive! Highly recommended.

Honestly, this place had it all, including a hip vibe. Great food, elaborate cocktails, non-fussy, laid back staff. By day, a gamer's dream and by night, you'll be impressed whether you want to chill with friends or impress a date.
