Lower Shamokin Falls Trail

Follow Ricks review. It was spot on. Would like to add that you have to cross some small streams and keep going even when it seems like the end of the trail. 100% worth the effort. A stunning end!

Awesome little hike.

I'm the one that added this to Google maps because I could not find this doing normal searching on the mapping programs. Just a couple quick pointers the trailhead has a very small parking plot and the initial start of the trail is up a gravel road to a power substation. One tip as you cross the bridge behind a power substation you'll see a sign that says "Chestnut flats private residents only do not enter". Ignore the sign, walk around the gate, and look for the blue blazes that are on the left hand side of the road there are small square painted blue blazes on the trees. If you see that you're on the correct Trail. You'll eventually see a sign that says lower Shamokin Falls Trail but it's at least one point two miles from the parking lot. Just continue to follow the blue marks and you will get their successfully.

Not well marked at all. We ended up going left like the map showed and it was up an intense hill for forever. We didn’t see the falls after walking straight up for a mile and turned around. If you find yourself going straight up for a bit turn around. Also, no shade at the beginning to the power plant.
