Otto's on the River

This is the best restaurant in Augusta, with the best staff! Awesome to be able to sit on the porch and see the river. The opposite of pretentious. The sweet potato dish is fantastic, and the lemon pie was incredible. All around great food at reasonable prices. But it is the staff at this restaurant that really shines. They make you feel at home - like part of the neighborhood. Jackie is a standout. People skills and work ethic are going to take her far. One day she will be in elected office or a business leader, or have whatever she wants from life. Lexi, who recently joined the team, was also very kind and competent. Looking forward to being back at this restaurant next summer.

This was our first time dining here. We went in for the Saturday breakfast buffet. Times are 9 - noon. The food was great. The rooms are beautiful. They are decorated very nicely.
On the buffet, they had prime rib (tender and great), fruit, sausages, bacon, eggs benedict, sausage gravy with biscuits, corned beef hash, breakfast potatoes, and different breads. They will make pancakes, eggs (your way), and omelets. There is a full bar available along with coffee, juices, and water.
The owner is on-site and very friendly.

The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was even better. Owner was friendly everything was tiptop.

We drove for an hour to get to Otto's. Our first time and we had no idea what to expect but since it was Thanksgiving we were prepared for anything. What a great surprise! The host greeting us was so cordial and even changed our seating so we could enjoy the water view. The server was so friendly we felt like regulars! Service was prompt and professional and the diner was wonderful. We eat out a lot but rarely take the time to write reviews but Otto's on the River is exceptional. We will be back.

The staff was beyond friendly which was really nice. Otto was totally empty when I went there today, perhaps because of the winter storm outside, but the food was great. I asked for a mushroom Swiss burger but had the burger replaced with their bean burger. It may have been the best veggie burger I’ve ever had :-)

The place had a really artsy vibe which I haven’t seen at many restaurants, it was welcoming, felt roomy, yet had a lot of abstraction which I loved.

By far the best meal we have had in Maine. The service was excellent. The drinks were amazing and one of a kind. We recommend the Caramel martini. The seafood scampi was delicious. The seared scallops with the maple glaze is out of this world. Great place to get a good quality meal that is well worth every penny.

Everything was SO GOOD OMG! My husband and I ordered a small Caesar salad and oysters as app and split the stuffed haddock seafood as meal. DELICIOUS! We got rose and cider. And the cheesecake was really really good. The service (our server was Steve) was awesome.

My girlfriend and I had a mishap as to food on Christmas Day and searched desperately for any place that might be open. Otto's gave these wayward souls a home at which to enjoy traditional Christmas dinners by a fireplace. The staff were very dedicated, and we were very thankful they opened their business and hearts to us on such an important holiday. A mix of diners were present, and it was just a very pleasant atmosphere and experience that helped make the holiday special.

Can't say enough about what a great experience we had! The service was great, the atmosphere was nice, the food was delicious, and the decor was so interesting. Sitting right next to the Kennebec River, the views are great. You can even take a walk along the river after your meal. My Seared Scallops were fantastic, and we ordered Rum Creme Brulee for dessert. That was absolutely delicious. Pricing is very reasonable, great menu, I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be back next time I am back in town!

Come here often for business meetings. Dining room is great, plenty of space and quiet.

Crab dip appetizer is always a winner, as is the double bone pork chop.

Otto's stuffed haddock was amazing. The baked brie en croute appetizer was remarkable. Everything down to the complimentary hot baked rolls was incredible and worth every penny... including the staff. They were all very courteous and accommodating. I highly recommend you try it and see for yourself.

Had a fine meal on a rainy day visiting the State House. Otto's checked all the boxes for us. Seafood chowder was fantastic. Great atmosphere and friendly folks. Couldn't have asked for better. All this, in spite of their continued challenges recovering from the flood.

Nice cute place with some fun artwork. Went for brunch today. Salad and chips were good, the burgers kinda dry. Great prices.
We were all impressed by our server. A young lady - Jackie G (per bill) who greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. She is the most wonderful server we’ve ever come across. Super friendly, kind and helpful. Very good manners, classy, made our experience awesome. I found the older lady (her manager or the owner) somewhat rude and sharp, but Jackie made sure we enjoyed our experience. Top class, she was awesome.

The meal was wonderful!
Brie cheese in puff pastry with marmalade and baguette for appetizer! I had braised lamb and Grace had Chicken Marsala. For dessert we had Creme Brule with peaches & banana.
Also very polite and knowledgeable waitstaff!

Our daughter took us to dinner here, outstanding food, presented well and tasted absolutely like perfection. We had a combo of a few things:Calamari, Baked Brie and crusty bread, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Angel hair pasta, and I had... Shrimp and Lobster Filet... Oh and a little bit of cheesecake for dessert... Yummmmm

Chicken Marsala was amazing, I am 17 years old and I was absolutely blown away by how invested the owner was in his efforts to make the restaurant a better, perfect pace, well rounded environment. My parents ordered the seared duck, they compared it to Gordon Ramsey's steak dinner! Service was amazing, no complaints whatsoever! 10/10 Kid approved.

Highly recommend! Their food was delicious, staff were super friendly and helpful, and atmosphere is fun and relaxing. I loved their flat bread, crab dip, and cherry cake.

Wonderful time here, got a Rueben that was stuffed with meat and the crab dip was amazing, everything came in less than 15 minutes. Steve was really friendly and nice along with the with blonde waitress whose name I forgot but is a senior in criminology. Excellent environment and service.
