Beautiful walk along a creek. Start and finish at same location where you park your car, a roundabout walk. Picnic tables and seating along the path

Nice park with a nice creek. It has a few small fish in it but nothing huge. The park has porta potties for bathrooms. Watch out for bums and hobos.

A great memorial to honor and pay tribute to those veterans from the Athens TN / McMinn county and surrounding area s that served our nation in times of War as well in times of peace. The monument for those from Company D 1 st Battlion 278th Regimental Combat Team ( RCT) during the Korea conflict ; also has a special place in my heart. I too have served in what later was that same unit when our nations leaders restored that unit during a conversion of the Co D 1St Sqdn. 278TH ARMORED CAVALRY REGIMENT (ACR) FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ. It was reassigned in 2004 and 2005 just for that war on terror. I was resigned to the Regimental Headquarters based in Knoxville TN as the regimental communications chief for that mission but i always remained in spirit with my fellow soldiers from Co D. 1st Bn. 278th RCT after having spent 12 years of my military career serving with the then heavy tank company. Again a great place to pay your respects to those that served, those that did not return home, and those that are still missing at different battlefields around this world that we live in. It reminds you that our freedom is not " totally" free because someone had to stand up and be ready to defend our nation and our way of life. Great job to those that build this memorial for those that served and especially to those that never returned home. I see their faces ever day from " my war" and in some special way the very peaceful place with the creek flowing by may have just helped me make some peace with what i experienced during my 36 years of military service and my multi combat tours to southwest asia and other classified places. So drive on Mc Minn county residents and supporters. You are helping us vets to heal in ways that you may have never even realized when you build this great memorial. Scouts out.
Respecfully Shockwave seven out.

Great place for walking. Most of the path is under shade. The memorial bricks adds the finishing touch.

Small but neat park... It has a water wheel and a floating ball with water. More cut out for just the scenery and nightlife of Athens TN.
