I am in nostalgic dream land here. This record store reminds me of the 80’s. Ha!

John, the owners is very knowledgeable about all kinds of genres of music and what artists to select.

My wife and I went in to find a record for son because he is a drummer and we feel like the experience there was super fun.

It's always a great place to visit. Great selection of vinyl and CDs, well curated and well organized. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you can't find it, they will. And if they don't have it, they'll order it.

We were exploring Ashland by foot the day after a play at the Shakespeare Festival and I’m always intrigued by surviving record stores so I stopped into the Music Coop. As I perused the racks, I realized that I had stumbled into a gem. The stock was expertly- curated and I found so many items ( vinyl and CD) that I had been ( or hadn’t realized I was) looking for. When I asked the owner John a question, it opened a fascinating dialogue about music and artists we both treasure. What a great guy and expert! I found it hard to walk away and catch up with my wife shopping nearby. If you visit Ashland Oregon, you owe it to yourself to visit Music Coop. It may be the best record store I’ve ever been to ( and I check out one in every town). Thanks John for an enlightening visit and I’m enjoying the funky Johnny Otis disc you recommended!

Music Coop is an amazing store with an amazing owner. He has been so supportive in helping me rebuild my collection after losing everything in the fires here in Southern Oregon. On every level i recommend this wonderful place.

Everything and more for the seasoned collector or someone just starting to build a vinyl library. Owners are present and more than pleasant, they are knowledgeable and helpful.

A gem. There aren't too many places like this left! And I bet if you stocked just one record player, it would sell every time...

This place has the best selection in the valley. If you are like me and cling to the classic's on vinyl and cd's, then this place is for you.

Great place, good selection if you look, and wonderful ownership. John and Trina are just lovely, helpful, and kind. If they don't have it they will order it or find it for you. Some people that complain about it being "over priced" in other reviews most likely don't understand the financial challenges of being a business owner in today's world and what it takes to provide a space for vinyl and music lovers to congregate. It is not just about the music, and supporting small businesses, it is about community. Having a place where these things intersect is invaluable.

Absolutely fantastic store. The selection for CDs and LPs is great, and the staff has an enviable level of knowledge and phenomenal willingness to help. The passion for music is apparent and always shines through in the customer service. When it comes to used vinyl, every single used record I've purchased here is in immaculate condition, and sold for a great price. Whether it's Blues, Jazz, Country, Soul, or Rock & Roll, I struggle to find the proper superlatives to recommend The Music Coop enough. If you love music, do yourself a favor and get lost in these bins.

Such a vast selection of records and cds, I was pretty taken by the amount of things in the store. Calm environment and super lax yet helpful employees!

I asked about availability for DG and they informed me on the ETA for the next batch to be delivered. Gave me an exact date and took down my information.

Will post updates when the time comes, very happy with my visit and I plan to be back very soon :^)

Number one greatest most best record store of all time ever no contest. The owners John and Trina are the nicest and wisest people you'll meet and the all of the employees are super nice and handsome especially the taller one. 12/10 would spend hours in the store just hanging out until I was hired.

I would tell you to ignore the one star ratings complaining about price or praises for the "Bay area" record market. Music Coop is about as far from a tourist trap as you can get. It is a record store in the classic sense before digital content delivery-where you can go in and meet knowledgeable staff with a passion for what they do and what seems to be an impossibly huge inventory in the current age. The vinyl selection is great. The used prices for vinyl are excellent. Will you pay more for the new pressings or rarer vinyl? Sure - just like you would at Amazon or eBay. If you are in Ashland and love vinyl or compact disc do not pass this store up.

Anyone who doesn’t give five stars to John and staff at The Music Coop here in Ashland is, by definition, insane! I always find something I don’t need but have to buy there. John Somehow naturally remembers everything you buy, and makes great recommendations. Love this record store!

I really like this store. The owner and staff were able to answer all my questions, and were amazingly knowledgeable. Prices are ok for cds and vinyl. It’s the wide selection that makes this store worth seeking out. Good rock, blues, jazz, folk and country. Only store I have ever been in where I would find Sun Ra, John Fahey, Link Wray, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, well you get the idea. Just go there!

We had a great experience! We stopped in during our honeymoon and John gave us a record as a gift to us; a Perry Como record. John was so friendly and passionate about music, we loved it!!
