Island Outfitters

Island outfitters is awesome and the owners are super friendly and helpful! The male owner was extremely knowledgeable about fishing on the island. This shop has bait, tackle, rods and reels, and much more. The souvenir shop has quality merchandise and isn't full of cheap stuff like other shops on the island. I definitely recommend island outfitters!

I've visited Island Outfitters for years. I can't believe anyone has had a bad time there. I read two bad reviews. One guy returned a kayak unhappy. Even though he knew the return policy, he still complained. I'm guessing he should vacation in the mountains from now on. The other complaint was about some college aged kid who broke an expensive Yetti Cup. If you can't afford to pay for it, maybe you shouldn't be shopping here. Parents, keep your kids away from the nice stuff. Hmmm, college age? Was alcohol involved??? Just saying. My family all love this place. Even Layla, the hairy security dog. We have bought all kinds of fishing gear here, and it's paid for itself in fresh seafood dinners. All Caught on St George Island. With info from Larry and Angela. Love you guys!!!

Capt Larry hooked me up with a great spoon fly and the reds and a big ugly nailed it in State George Island State Park. Awesome!

We just returned from an annual stay at St. George Island S.P. We stopped in Island Outfitters to look at Hobie Kayaks. We spent a great deal of time talking to the owners and ended up buying 2 Hobie Mirage Lynx kayaks which we enjoyed during our stay on SGI. The owners were very informative and helpful without applying pressure. Larry even went to their house to get one of the kayaks that was not in the store and made a second trip to get a couple of things that were not with the kayak. We stopped in a couple of times during our stay to ask questions about the kayak and buy more accessories and were always greeted in a very friendly manner.

To some of the other comments about wearing masks, they are no longer requiring them, but we had them in the truck and would have certainly respected their rules as we do at other establishments. If you don't like the rules, vote with your feet and don't be a whiner. As far as teenagers or kids being spoken to harshly, I saw kids with parents not paying any attention to what they were doing. The owners just reminded them that is an expensive board you are swinging around. Parents should be parents and take responsibility.

Best selection of good-quality beachwear and fishing gear on the island! The staff was extremely helpful getting our family setup with kayak rentals, including loading them up on our rental car.

Happy to hear that they required masks when necessary and had the safety of their staff in mind. We’ll definitely be back next summer.

Nice clean store with excellent gear. Everyone that works their is friendly and has a smile on their face. I am a local charter captain, and I can tell you that they know what their gear. They only carry the best stuff. It’s by far the highest end tackle shop in Franklin County. They give you excellent advice on how to catch fish from the beach or a boat.

I love this place! The customer service is just right... they let you browse to your heart's content, and then happily and thoroughly answer any questions you may have. They carry several of my family's favorite brands at competitive prices. We come to the island a few times each year and go to this store at least once each time. And Layla, the shop dog, is the cutest!

The owners were great with helping me to learn how to fix our fishing poles we had bought the night before and got tangled. Very patient with us. I really appreciate that with 2 13 year olds wanting to fish! :)

I have purchased several kayaks at Island Outfitters. I have nothing but praise for the owners! I now am the owner of 3 Hobies. Over the last 5 years I have been a shopper and buyer and , oh yes, they just helped me repair the seat on my old Mirage.( for free)...they are successful small business owners. Hats off to you guys!!! Tough job in today’s climate...Will be back soon...

Stopped in today to buy some bait to go surf fishing. Ended up buying two rods which they kindly setup for us and gave us great tips on how to fish in the park.

Reserved a Kayak for Monday-Friday and arrived on Sunday. I called to see if I could grab the Kayak a day early and even though they were closed... the owner met me there and let me take it - great customer service. Also, very good (spot-on) fishing advice and great selection of tackle. Every time I stopped in was greeted by friendly and helpful folks.

You won't stump these owners...they are the best. Both are extremely knowledgeable and partial to the lines they carry, which are the BEST, top of the line products. Visit their store for the full array of fishing, boating, and recreational items. They put us in our first, and hopefully only, hobie peddle kayaks; delivered and provided one-on-one lesson. Check out their jewelry, clothing line and shoes; everything under one roof. If you want quality products, service, and a smile, you must visit Island Outfitters!

Extremely helpful and informative staff. I got great info on fishing spots, equipment, sun protection, and even found a fantastic sunglasses. Plus I bought the worlds most comfy flip flops there. Top notch all the way around!!!!

I rented two tandem kayaks today. The staff at this store was very friendly and helpful. I was pleased with the fast load and unload, and the availability of rentals. If we come to SGI again, we will definitely visit Island Outfitters again.

This place is great! I just rented a bicycle for 3 days and bought a beach chair. Cody was a gentleman and most helpful! Come here for a rental! Do not go to Jolly Roger they are good ol boys and a rip off!

Excellent service. Got us on some fish when the day was not the best for fishing. Took a second trip for shelling and dolphin watching and it was very fruitful trip. She even let my dad and son fish some that trip since the first trip was a tough one.

Great people and great products. I go to the island 5-6 times per year and always get great advice and fishing stuff from them. Always nice to have some place to trust to help me out make the most of my time on the island.

We have been stopping here for several years. These have to be the nicest most consistently caring shop owners in the county. They are my first stop anytime I need supplies, gifts or advice about my lack of fishing skills.

A wonderful place on the island where you’re always made to feel welcome. Angela and Larry are very knowledgeable about all things SGI and cheerfully share their wisdom to all. Top quality merchandise on everything from clothing to fishing tackle.

Great shop, great and knowledgeable staff. Glad they are taking all the precautions for their own safety and the safety of their customers!! It meant a lot! We always shop there when visiting the island!
