We had the pleasure of visiting Half Moon Bar Lodge on Monday, July 10th. Mike and the staff were tentative, knowledgeable, helpful and truly seemed to care about their clients. The food is all home cooked and absolutely delicious. We loved visiting the lounge before dinner to enjoy appetizers and cocktails in the beautiful historic lodge. It was so refreshing to have the peace and quiet to unplug from technology and watch the wildlife at our doorstep. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Love, the Thomas'

I love this place! Mike and Chris and the staff are warm and welcoming. The lodge is beautiful and the setting is breathtaking. The rooms are extremely comfortable. The food is outstanding and the “space bar” is out of this world! We enjoyed hiking, exploring and cooling off in the gorgeous Rogue River. Make sure to take advantage of the dark sky, which makes for excellent star gazing. Brady and Dannah went out of their way to keep our kids entertained. My family and I will come back here year after year!

What a great place! We stayed there the last night of our 5 day lodge to lodge trip with Oregon River Experience. The beds were so comfortable, the sheets extremely soft. Rainfall shower with plenty of bathroom space. Food was fantastic! Extra outdoor activities including frisbee golf and corn hole. Would definitely stay there again!

So great! Is there anything we didn't like? No. Our family of 4 stayed there during a Rogue River Rafting trip. We food was great. The hosts were great. The Farm to Table dinner was fantastic and very well presented. The rooms were comfortable. Roma (the dog) was very sweet and was an excellent addition to the team. It was really hot when we were there and the misters were a good addition.

Our family of four stayed at Half Moon Bar Lodge during a rafting trip down the Rogue River. This was the best overnight lodge we have ever stayed at, and also one of the best wilderness stays ever. The room was perfect, the welcome excellent, the food was out of this world. Stay here if you can, you won't regret it.

Place and rooms newly renovated. Lovely surroundings. The staff did an outstanding job setting up an outside venue for our dinner. They even set the table with vases with wildflowers.

Dinner was superb, wonderful pot roast with all the trimmings. Desert was lava cake with ice cream.

Great story told around the outside fire ring the staff set up for us.

Would give 6 stars if I could! This place is incredible. It's a family-run homestead knows itself better than any new business I have ever seen and delivers itself perfectly. Not only is the setting exactly what one would want from the Wild & Scenic, but the lodging and amenities are top notch. The rooms were clean, well finished, well stocked, and spacious bathrooms (rare in remote cabin types). We were treated to dinner and breakfast in the dining room and both exceeded expectations.

I will be returning to Half Moon Bar Lodge. Places like this are incredibly rare.

Glorious serenity, trails to explore, wildlife to observe, historical stories to hear leaves you with the unlimited desire to remain on the homestead. Mike, Chris and the rest of the “family” kept the ambiance at high standards throughout our stay. Early morning fresh coffee delivered to your stylish yet cozy and comfortable room in vintage branded thermoses. Delicious food served in the aesthetically pleasing main lodge as you greet new faces joining you at the family style tables. Arrive as strangers, depart as family. I was 5 minutes away from listing my house and becoming a permanent resident. When I do, you’ll find me in the garden. We are already planning our next stay. Can’t wait to to see Half Moon Bar & Lodge (oh and her caretakers 😉) again! Until then, we will miss you. The Reynolds Clan.

Mike, Chris and the team have resurrected an old Oregon treasure with loving care to every detail. The premier place now to stay on the Rogue River after several years of pain staking renovation. Step back into time in a recreated "frontier Oregon" venue in one of the nations most remote, rugged and stunningly beautiful locations. The accommodations are top quality with Mike's hand crafted and natural edged furniture used throughout the lodge. The food is wonderful and served family style with fresh vegetables from their onsite organic garden. The hospitality is unsurpassed and every night to Mike and Chris is like hosting a dinner party. My only complaint is that Roma, the adorable lodge dog, needs work on her fetching skills! Can't wait to return.......

Wow! I had an amazing experience here. My favorite vacations often combine outdoor adventure, great food, comfortable/relaxing lodgings and fun company. Half Moon Bar Lodge delivers!

Outdoor adventure: it all starts with a super fun jet boat ride up the Rogue River through the “wild and scenic” section of pristine wilderness. We did great hikes (moderate to difficult) with views of the river and rafters navigating rapids. At the lodge, we swam in the river every afternoon - floating down a small section - very fast or very slow depending on how far out you were. The lodge also has disc golf, corn hole and other activities.

Great food: it just keeps coming and it’s all wonderful (much of it grown in the garden). We had killer pot roast for dinner, which is their signature dish. Homemade lemonade and fresh squeezed orange juice were super tasty, and dessert is a full-plated event half an hour after dinner. The Space Bar with cocktails named after astronauts was also amazing - the Tang margarita was surprisingly good. The last morning we thought the phrase “joyously extravagant” is an apt description of all the meals and drinks.

Comfortable/relaxing lodgings: the rooms were great - lodge style with many modern/transitional updates. A coffee/tea fairy drops off mugs and a Thermos on your porch each morning. The beds were comfy and everything was super clean.

Fun company: of course that partly depends on who you travel with, but the staff at Half Moon are wonderful. They are great story tellers and enjoy telling the tales about this historic lodge and are fun, interesting, good-hearted people in their own right.

Bottom line: you can’t go wrong picking Half Moon Bar Lodge.

Amazing place, people, and food. The rooms are quiet, cozy and well appointed. Climb the stairs up from the river and you will be overwhelmed by the tranquility--extensive vegetable gardens, open fields, and orchard trees. It's a perfect place to get lost in a book on the lodge porch. There's also a one mile loop around the property which is perfect for a morning run or an evening stroll. Also, don't forget to bring your fly rod. Excellent spot to fish. Abundant half pounders if you hit it at the right time.

What a treat! Set in an idyllic spot along the Rogue River, Half Moon Bar Lodge offers the therapeutic backdrop of nature integrated with the luxuries of bedding, plumbing, electricity, and home-cooked meals. I stayed in the quiet and cozy Rogue room on the south wing of the main lodge, where I watched deer eat plums from the plum tree mere feet away. The property grounds include a mile-long loop walking trail, a disc golf course, gardens plentiful with fresh fruits and vegetables, and a couple of locations for dropping down to bob and float in the river. The adventurous can also traverse off-trail up to Pinnacle Point for an overlook of the region from up high. But there is no judgment in simply slowing down to read a book while sitting on the rocking chairs near the porch misters (or at any of the strategically-located Adirondacks), pick up a board game from the main lodge, or take an afternoon nap. Family-style meals, which are served routinely three times a day, are plentiful and scrumptious (and although they included meat, I ate heartily as a vegetarian). The staff (Mike, Chris, Danah, and Brady) are possibly the hardest-working crew I have ever encountered, with infectious positive attitudes and good-humored story telling. Even after five days of unwinding and being fully relieved of responsibility during my stay, my heart ached for more as I returned back to civilization.

We had a great time! The place has been recently overhauled--both cosmetically and structurally. Despite being in the midst of wilderness and accessible only by boat, staying here is not roughing it.

At this oasis of luxury, we had a hot thermos outside our cabin in the morning, delicious and plentiful meals, creative cocktails, hot showers, and comfy beds. Electricity (from solar and generator) and Wi-Fi (from satellite) worked well. As a bonus, most of the vegetables we ate were grown right there in the huge garden.

The staff add to the experience. Not only do they seem psyched to be there, but they truly seemed to want us to enjoy our stay. They were also awesome storytellers on an evening walk where we learned about the history of the place.

We stayed in a cabin which offered some privacy but also hung out on the main lodge porch (which had misters) when we want to be closer to the bar and chat with others guests.

I think most guests are taking a well-needed break from camping as they float down the Rogue but we arrived by jet boat--which was a fun ride itself and was easy to arrange with Jerry's Rogue Jets.

This is a magical place where you can enjoy pristine remote wilderness in luxurious accommodations. Our cabin, Inspiration, was roomy, private and well appointed. The shower was hot, the bed linens and towels of excellent quality and there was even one of those fancy japanese style toilet seats! We stayed for 3 nights and had excellent meals. The bartender knows what she is doing and the house speciality cocktails were fresh and strong. All the staff were friendly, eager to please and knowledgable about the history and colorful characters of the rogue river. Loved it!!

I have traveled to 15 countries and stayed in the city, country, suburbs, you name it. This is one of my top 5 favorite vacation spots of all time. You will not regret coming up here on the jet boat and soaking it all in! I would recommend for upper elementary age kids and kids of all ages above that. Mike and all the staff deserve 6 stars!! They work hard and make it look easy!
Location: Gorgeous and scenic – hills, river, green lawns, beautiful hanging baskets
Staff: Great sense of humor, incredible attention to detail and anticipate your needs, generally wonderful
Food: Delectable and plentiful, with many little touches of local food and fare from the garden, “Space Bar” with great drinks and Chris, who does many things including make your drinks, is generous and always has something great to say!
Rooms and Lodge: beautiful wood and comfortable, smooth sheets, super comfortable beds and great smelling locally sourced toiletries, misters and covered porch keep you cool when it is hot!
Extras that do not disappoint: Roma the Lodge doggo is a love, deer that wander up to the lawn at night, legends of the true river cowboys who established the lodge and their drama told by Chris and Mike in a fashion worthy of their own show, coffee/tea fairy in the morning, and bells to announce your meals you do not have to cook nor clean up after a long day of fun hiking and adventure or just lazing around.

Having traveled the world this is one of the most sublime places on earth. Nestled onto a spectacular property the proprietors offer wonderful food and amenities, all with an environmentally friendly footprint. Fall to sleep and awake in the morning to the sound of Oregon’s Wild & Scenic Rogue River flowing around Half Moon Bar. An unforgettable treat. The big cozy fireplace in the lodge and quiet peaceful cabins and rooms ring the bell for those lucky enough to visit.

Loved watching the stars and wildlife, eating lavish meals, and enjoying the beautiful remoteness of the place. The staff are all fantastic story tellers and hosts, and go above and beyond to make their guests comfortable during their stay. Can't say enough good things about this experience.

So excited to see this lodge open to the public and accepting guests. The lodge and guest rooms have been fully renovated and the transformation of this property to the premiere destination on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River is wonderful to see. This is a great location for a family gathering with a setting in the midst of the Rogue River Wilderness and on the banks of one of our nation’s original Wild and Scenic Rivers. Amenities include dinner and breakfast served family style, wi-fi, comfortable rooms, a common area in the lodge, a full bar, and plenty of opportunities for exploring the grounds. Dark night skies are ideal for star gazing. The orchard and garden will soon supply produce for the wholesome meals that emerge from the kitchen. Consider this lodge as a destination for a family event, company retreat, or time away with your partner.

Half Moon Bar Lodge is a special place. One of my friends calls it "heaven". He just might be right. The food is exquisite, the lodging amazing, the grounds and history compelling - and oh yeah - just in case you need it, their WiFi is probably faster than yours (thanks to starlink)! Mike and team have really built something special here. If you ever get the chance, you MUST go, or regret having missed the opportunity.
