Seriously, pastor Nelson always finds the humor in his own, and all of our idiosyncrasies, and then links our personal experiences back to the moral and inspirational biblical messages, giving them everyday relevance, in our challenging path to peace, prosperity, and unity with humanity and the universe.

Methodism is not necessarily my favorite flavor of Christianity. But Christ is my all time favorite rabbi. Pastor Nelson is a wonderful modest man of no pretense, a delightful character, who has turned soul searching into a treasure hunt, and works tirelessly to ease the suffering of others. That's a hard combination to beat.

Pastor Nelson's character was fully revealed last week, when a motorcycle club went roaring past our pastoral outdoor service, interrupting the crescendo of his sermon.

Undaunted by the hail of engine backfires, pastor Nelson, calmly waved to them, and waved them in to join the service.

That is a living message example of how to turn adversity into opportunity and virtue. The message amuses and inspires me.

I don't think you're going to find anything better to do with 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, then to join this lovely, loving, and eccentrically entertaining congregation.

This is soul food at its best, with zero calories.

All are welcome. Even me and motorcyclers.

So sin a little if you must, but come join us anyway. No one's judging, just finding the path forward.
