Elk Horn Lodge of Angel Fire

This is a quaint, vintage-style lodge that is more affordable than other lodges in the area, and it is located just across the main thoroughfare from the mountain with picturesque balcony views of the ski slopes. There is also a little store that sells ski gear, a Subway, a Pizza place, a gas station, and a Lowe's grocery store right next door.

You must call the property management company to get a room, as there is not a front desk clerk. The phone operator for Elk Horn Lodge was incredibly kind and helpful. She found us a room within our budget (under $300/night for 2 Queens), but we could not check in until 5:30pm, and check-out is at 11am. This lodge is affordable compared to the main lodge that is nearest the mountain ($625/night). Our double queen room was warm and cozy and had two mini fridges, a microwave, shower/bath, hair dryer, coffee pot, and a balcony with a beautiful view of the Angel Fire mountain ski slopes. The rooms were clean, and the door has keyless entry via pin pad. There was no elevator, and we were on the third floor, and I didn't see any rooms on the first floor because there is a locally-owned restaurant inside the building that serves breakfast and lunch (it is not continental.) The snow plough did not plough our parking lot while we were there, but you should park on the edges of the driveway, in case they do. Snow chains for tires are recommended. There is not a large parking area. They are in the process of renovating this lodge, so on the second floor there is remodeling taking place. Overall, this lodge provides a great value, friendly service, and a convenient location with a fantastic view of the mountain!

We stayed in their suite this past weekend. It is a 2 room suite with a living room/dining area that has a microwave and mini fridge. One room has a king size bed and the other room has 2 queen beds. My husband and I slept in the king bed and it was an amazing mattress! So very comfortable. The entire suite was very clean. The balcony opens to a spectacular view of the mountains. We weren't able to eat at the restaurant but have heard great things about their food. Overall, a great stay and will definitely stay there next time we are in the area.

Loved the vintage accommodations! The price was fair and the room was clean...that's all we needed for our little weekend getaway! We loved the balcony with the view of Angel Fire Mountains! The best part of the stay was Nancy's hospitality! We enjoyed the homey feeling of the dogs lounging around and people sitting around visiting! The made to order breakfast Nancy and crew fixed each morning for us was outstanding! Nothing fancy about the Elkhorn Lodge; just good people making you feel welcome!

We stayed for a week with the lodge and had an absolute excellent stay! The room, balcony, and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We were provided a fan, since there are no ac units in the mountains. We were made extremely comfortable and felt at home! The resort staff are extremely helpful and helped us find all kinds of things to do during our week long stay. We also ate at Ace's Kitchen, the onsite restaurant, and it was incredible! We can't wait to get back and see the snow and do some skiing! Thank you Elk horn Lodge! We will definitely be back!

I was in the Elk Lodge eating lunch in Morning Star Restaurant. Very pleasant, cheery atmosphere. Comfortable seating. Good food. Didn't really look at menu because the special for the day is what I wanted when it was mentioned. Very generous in amount on plate, maybe could actually be cut back some. Very good.

We booked this lodge for our families Christmas vacation. Was a little concerned with it after reading the reviews, however the new owners and management have done amazing. They have went above and beyond and are doing renovations on it daily. We definitely had a great experience and have already reserved our spot for Christmas 2020. Denise was amazing and the sweetest lady, they couldn’t of gotten a better person to run their lodge. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

What a beautiful view! First and foremost they are so very kind and helpful! Really made our family feel at home. We had a patio to just relax and watch the mountains and slopes. In the morning, I could walk right next door and grab a cup of coffee from the Bump. Location is just fantastic. We drove over from Albuquerque and will def be back!

Wow! This place is awesome! Office is sweet and super friendly! Great location too. Room was cozy and very clean. Private patio was nice to sit and look up the mountain. Beautiful views! Just wonderful. We came from San Antonio, TX and will definitely be back!

I had the bacon cheeseburger and my wife thought the tortilla soup was the best she ever had. Stuart & Lilianna have knocked it out of the park. Run, don't walk to the Morning Star to be blessed with a wonderful dining experience.

Our family would 100% stay here again and again! The staff was so friendly, the hotel was convenient to two restaurants within walking distance, the market is within walking distance and the rentals next door are cheaper than renting at Angel Fire Resort. The hot breakfast that is included with your stay is so great and served to you as you sit down each morning. We loved the cowboy singing during breakfast too! And lastly - the horseback ride through the National Forest that we reserved with Nancy was just amazing and so beautiful! Our car got stuck and they even helped us get it out! Thank y’all for a great stay and experience! We’ve already told many family and friends about your lodge! We will be back!

Small town Motel price for rooms fair.. Under new management. Best part 5 or 2 min to sky resort. Next to market and laundry mat. Plus restaurant also under new management with really good beacon and grilled onions burgers. P

Read tons of reviews about this place. You will know Nancy as soon as you see her. This place has a very cozy atmosphere. The lobby is dog heaven. They made us breakfast mom and pops style. Not your average hotel, it is a totally different experience!

My family - wife, children and grandchildren spent a wonderful week at Elkhorn Lodge in Angel Fire N.M. The rooms featured new furniture and very comfortable beds. Food and services were outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Lodge has a "rustic" style, but very comfortable, and very clean rooms. We can't wait to return for another vacation soonest! The only criticism we have is that Angel Fire needs more tourist gift shopping and restaurants - However, the Elkhorn Lodge restaurant was fantastic! We look very much forward to returning and enjoying this great Lodge again.

A very pleasant stay! The owners are wonderful people and made sure we had a great experience. If you're passing through or vactioning, Elk Lodge will accommodate and make you feel comfortable special. The property is very clean and the rooms are spacious!

Very ski lodge feel, which is perfect for a ski town. Located very close to the Angel Fire ski area, but at a much more reasonable price than the resort. Plus, within very close walking distance to Angel Fired Pizza, which was SOOOOO GOOD! I also really enjoyed the breakfast you get in the morning if you are a lodger here. Kept me quite full on the slopes for quite a while. Thank you, Elkhorn!

Elkhorn Lodge of Angel Fire was an excellent place to stay for our trip to the slopes. The owners were so pleasant and helpful. We got in late, but they made it very convenient to get into our room and we woke up with a homemade breakfast every morning! Nothing bad to say about Elkhorn Lodge, will definitely stay there again!

The location is perfect. We really enjoyed the trail that is literally right behind the lodge. Shopping and restaurants very close by also. Room was very comfortable but what we appreciated most was the friendly and personable owners. We were also so happy that they are dog friendly!

Dec. 2020, Cozy mountain feel, Warm, just what you are looking for in the New Mexico mountains. Comfortable beds, micro-wave, refrigerators, spacious rooms. Great locations for Ski area, Ski rental! We felt very welcome and very comfortable. Owners are following all the New Mexico Covid requirements for a save vacation. R Poole

My newlywed wife and I stayed here during part of our honeymoon vacation. Without a doubt this was best lodging we experienced. Nancy, the owner, was as sweet and accommodating as can be. I highly recommend that anyone planning to stay in Angel Fire stay here, you will not regret it.
