Lizumer hut - Tux Alps

This is a spectacular hut. Of course it’s beautiful with a spectacular setting and plenty of options for ski tours from the hut, but it also sets itself apart from others in a few important ways. One, the caretakers are incredible—checking in on us every day, remembering our names, fluent in many languages—and friendly in all of them! Two, the food is incredible—it often is at Austrian huts, but craft beer on the menu!!! Organic coffee! Local meats, cheeses (from next door), and sourdough breads. Amazing. Finally there are some small, but noticeable touches that are annoyances at other huts which are avoided here. One, they embrace and encourage you to make a sandwich for your tour at breakfast. Two, the water is FREE! Three, they have reliable wifi and power strips at the outlets! Four, hot showers AND even hot water in the sinks. These things are how you can tell the caretakers really care about guests experiences. Finally, they have two hut kitties ❤ This is probably the best hut I’ve been to in the Alps. Excellent modern hut with high standards. Fairly large rooms, good bathroom. Excellent hospitality. The owner cares that his guests enjoy their stay. Food is good. Breakfast is excellent.
The only special thing about this hut is that it is located in the middle of the military training area. When you arrive, you can see on the electronic board that shooting with live ammunition is going on.... Any you hear the shooting during the day.

This place was really great for skitours and I inagine it would be perfect for summer hikes. The owner of the hut put transceivers in the field so that the place is perfect for practicing acalanche rescues/ LVS training. The owners Tobias and Maria and their staff are super friendly and the food was definitely the best food I've ever had at an alpine lodge. The lodge also has an indoor and outdoor bouldering wall which would be great for warmer weather. I can highly recommend this place and look forward to going back!

We stayed here on our walk from Munich to Venice. We arrived late, but we could still have dinner. The rooms and the bathroom were clean and modern. There's a small climbing and bouldering wall, which is cool. The staff is great. Very helpful with explaining the routes.

Great hosts, special thanks to Tobias - so kind, helpful and friendly man. THe place itself is very clean, nice and tidy. Great place, high standard for hutte, blankets and pillow covers changed daily.

Lovely place with very personal and good service. Upon arrival the owner Toni comes to your table tin inform you about procedures, timings and your check in. The food was great and also the beds in lager are comfortable. Highly recommended to stay here!

Very warm welcome from the front of house host. All staff were very friendly and obviously happy in their work. The food was really excellent and beautifully served. All run very efficiently. All in all a stand out mountain hut.

This cottage is very nice! Everything is clean with warm water, very friendly staff and also very good food for a fair amount of money! We took half pension and it was well with it! Sleeping places are also comfortable, even though I will NEVER understand while some stupid people make their way up in a cottage with the cable car and must take a place in the sleeping rooms where all the hikers sleep and keep them awake with their snarking! You might just take room then!

Spent two nights in June 2020. Excellent food, especially the 3way dinner. Friendly and helpfull staff with good suggetIons on day trips.
We accessed the camp via Moelsbach Valley simply following the gravelroad and passing the Klammsee starting at Lager Walch. Takes 5h. Scenery around Lager Lizum is beautifully and a half day hike to Geier summit recommended for experienced mountaineer even if snow, as in our case, is remaining.
Rooms are comfortable and up to date, wifi is available.

Great. Good food, nice staff, bed was cozy and shower had enough water pressure. Vegetarians are welcome, vegans might have some difficulties.

best cuisine I ever experienced in the austrian alps. All staff very professional, nice and friendly. Had a great time, will surely pass the good word on.

Super nette Leute und tolle Atmosphäre in der Hütte. Das Essen (Halbpension - 3-Gänge-Menü) war durchweg lecker. Immer eine vegetarische Option dabei! Die Lage ist ideal um unterschiedliche Touren zu machen.

Wir hatten drei traumhafte Tage auf der Lizumer Hütte. Unglaublich nettes und aufmerksames Personal. Das Essen ist gigantisch. In den Zimmern gibt es sogar Waschbecken. Alles sehr gut organisiert. Wir kommen wieder :-)
