An excellent museum showcasing the various regions in Austria. It is on a small gradient, for the route up. With good facilties and an excellent restaurant. As is the norm, it is all in German. The leaflet in English gives you an overview and you can use Google translate on the rest.

Before that lovely museum i have visited couple similar museums in different countries. In every country has own unique rural architecture. So it is in Austria. Intresting is walk through different villages and watch buildings. In this museum has more watermills. So water was important. Good for walking. Near museum is parking and rail station.

This place is beautiful, rich in history, the houses are fascinating. We were lucky, so we came just when they were having events for children, which further enriched the content.

A pleasant walk in the old days, attractions for kids as well. The information about the closing time of the dining facility could be told at the ticket booth, we arrived there (ca. middle of the park) 5 min after the kitchen closing time. Still we could grab some warm food which was nice. All in all: a good plan for a weekend program with kids as well.

I've been to Open Air Museums in Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and this one, this is my second favorite, which means totally worth it. You learn so much about the country's culture from the past.

This is a huge open air museum where you can visit typical Austrian houses including an 18th century shop (with the counter and the shop assistant serving you) - and a few things are for sale for real-, a school, stables, barns and farms, and a lot of old objects and furnishing. The walk develops far into a little valley in the nature and a good visit will take quite a few hours. We enjoyed the visit very much. Take your picnic because there is only a restaurant at the entrance.

Very beautiful park with historical houses on display from all over Austria. This calm place gives you a wonderful glance back into a simpler, yet harder past. Almost no distractions from modern times give you beautiful immersion into the surroundings - unless you meet a cheerful school class, of course. The restaurant at the center offers very friendly service and delicious Apfelstrudel. Altogether a wonderful, down-to-earth and friendly place to learn and relax.

Like visiting a village from more than century ago! Lots of attractive buildings, presentation of old customs and habits, Easy to spend a day here in the nature, without a traffic.

Very interesting place to visit, you can spend a couple hours meaningfully here. Located in beautiful greenery. One thing to mindful of for foreigners: all the info boards about the buildings are in German only.

A very interesting place, the buildings were originally installed and evoked the life of that era. Very nice to walk. The museum floor is also interesting. In the "village" you have a restaurant where smoking is not allowed, not even in the garden. You are not allowed to smoke in the entire village. Next to the restaurant there is a small corner where smokers can hide and light a cigarette. I wasn't in the restaurant.

I enjoyed seeing how life was about a century ago. The buildings represent all regions of Austria and it shows in the architecture. It is nice to see several working water mills.

A family could spend an entire day here: a little from each Austrian "state" with buildings & artifacts moved from their locations. Some demonstrations. Restrooms along the way; bistro about half-way along the path. A chance to see history in a new way. Ability to read German of great help.

Highly recommended with or without children.

The museum has old rural buildings fully equipped with artefacts all in a lovely setting. It is a huge day out, we were there 6 hours, there is so much to see and do. The children loved everything.

There is an excellent bar and restaurant with the best food we have had on this trip -remember to take cash as card payments are tricky.

It must have been a very hard life but I would like to have tried it.
