You can park at the summit carpark in summer for free. Then it’s a steep hill walk and then some rugged stairs. No hand rails and ground is uneven so you will want a level of fitness and leg strength. Very windy even on a still day so do consider a jacket and head covering.

In summertime you can drive right to the top of the Mount Buller car park and then walk the remaining distance. Incredible views back towards Mansfield and the surrounding national park and other big hills in the area, it’s a full 360° view if you climb to the summit, and I highly recommend doing this. It’s something you’ll never forget. It’s also great on a really hot day as the summit is always 10° or more colder than the valleys and areas below.

You can drive to the village in summer and park and take a long walk to the summit or you can drive on a rocky road(just take it slow 2wd are ok) and park near the summit for a short walk. There are toilets at the top car park.

Mount Buller is a stunning destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure in the Australian Alps. The Mount Buller summit hike is a must-do activity for any nature lover visiting the region, and it provides breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

The hike begins in Buller Village, where hikers can easily access the trailhead. The ascent to the summit is challenging but incredibly rewarding, with several steep sections along the way. The trail is well-maintained, with clear signage and markers throughout, making it easy to follow.

As you ascend the mountain, the views become increasingly spectacular, with sweeping panoramas of the surrounding valleys and peaks. The terrain is diverse, with rocky outcrops, alpine meadows, and dense forest providing a stunning backdrop for the hike.

Reaching the summit is an incredible achievement, with panoramic views that extend for miles in every direction. On a clear day, hikers can see as far as the distant peaks of the Victorian Alps, making the effort to reach the summit all the more worthwhile.

Great snow experience for all the age groups. Wear water repellent and thermal cloths to stay comportable. Dedicated staff is doing great service to guide the visitors and keep the place well cleaned

We went there in March. There were no any snow activities but a lot of maintenance works. The road is zigzag but in good condition. Driving to the summit you can have a better view.

Mount Buller is about a three hours drive from Melbourne, yet it is totally worth it. You can drive up until the near too and then walk for about 1km.

Better get your proper shoes 👞 as you have to hike a bit. The view is breathtaking. On a beautiful day you can enjoy a 360 degrees view over the Australian Alps, maybe not as height as the Alps in Europe, yet so large.

Beautiful walk, here during March early Autumn, temps around 20 in the midday, perfect ambiance and day for walk.

Also okay not with 4WD, I just came here with my small Yaris with no issues!

Will return here (can’t come during winter) for a ski!

The amazing mountain.

My. Buller can be reached by car or bus, in this case the driver must be extra careful because in winter snow that is more than 24 hours will harden and make the roads slippery. then we have to use the cable bench to reach the top. although not to the highest level, we can climb the stairs to reach the top. this is the most amazing place to ski. other than that tired and cold paid off by the view of mountains covered with ice, and white villages covered in snow.

Owwhh... Valhallaa!

don't forget, use gloves, and shoes that can warm up to -26 degrees Celsius before you freeze

Loved every second, it was unreal to feel snow during the summer. The views from the summit are something you have to see for yourself. Whether going in summer or in winter, this place is a wonderland of excitement and fun. Mt Buller will not disappoint. It's a must for anyone thats keen to explore beautiful places. There are heaps of slopes to choose from to ski down, ranging from easy to hard. So, whether you are skilled or just a novice, this place has you covered. There is a pump track for bikes, scooters and skateboarding. And lots of fun activities for all the kids and adults too.

I only visit Mt Buller during Winter times. The summit have a great view and a good place for scenic photos. As for Skiing ⛷ and snowboarding they are two trails the one for blue run (intermediate level) and black run (PROs). I have ⛷ down the blue trail many times and I highly recommend for an adrenaline rush experience. Looking forward for the black run in future.

And unplanned hike took us a good time. Temperatures was freezing on top. My phone touch screen stopped working on top. Went on July 5 2018. Photos were taken in DSLR. Didn’t stayed there for long. But the view was stunning.
