Amber Lodge Mt Buller

Would highly recommend Amber Lodge to anyone looking to stay on the mountain in Mt Buller.
- Location is super convenient - 2 village shuttle bus stops within 100m of the front door.
- Excellent drying room for all your ski gear.
- Comfy beds.
- Very well equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals.
- Comfortable communal area to relax with other guests.
- Spotlessly clean (especially the windows 😉) and well maintained, with great attention to detail.
- Best of all, it is run by a wonderful couple, who constantly went out of their way to make sure all the guests were enjoying their stay - thank you Frank and Jo for making us feel so welcome!

I was half tempted to not leave a review so we can all keep Amber Lodge a secret but it’s hard not to share something so good.

From the get-go, Jo and Frank welcomed us with open arms; much like staying with family or long lost friends. They helped us with our bags, showed us around the lodge and made our family feel at home. Our room was clean with freshly laundered linen which suited our needs for a warm shower and a good night’s sleep.

Our family typically spent all day out on the slopes until it was time for dinner. Their well-equipped kitchen was a lifesaver because it meant the kids could eat balanced, nourishing meals after a whole day of energy expansion. The communal style also allowed us to meet other like-minded families while Jo and Frank would join us from time to time to have a chat. Everyone was also always very mindful about keeping quiet past 830pm so I thought that was lovely for the kids who slept early.

The both of them do an immense job upkeeping Amber Lodge to ensure that it is squeaky clean every time of the day. Pretty sure it has to be the cleanest lodge on the mountain! The kids absolutely enjoyed their time here and will not choose any place else when we come back each year for sure. You guys are the best! Xx

The Lodge is in the perfect location. We walked to the centre of Buller & the ski lifts, all within 5 minutes.

Had a very enjoyable start to the snow season at Amber Lodge. The highlight of our stay was the very welcoming and helpful hosts, they were very attentive and made us feel right at home and on holiday.
The lodge was very well maintained and spotless clean. There was a tv, board games and a full kitchen. Rooms were cozy with bunk beds.
The centre was a 450m walk away or the village shuttle was 50m away if you have kids to tow.
Will definitely return

Better than 5 stars!

Frank and Jo were such amazing hosts that went out of their way to accommodate us. The experience was truly like spending time with close (very organised) friends/family.

The living space was great and allowed us to prepare meals for the family. There's a storage facilities for skis etc as well as a drying room for boots/jackets. There are also bus stops within close proximity to take you to the village or ski school.

I wish I could give this gorgeous host couple more stars but google wont allow it! Thanks Jo and Frank for accommodating us during the June holidays, thanks for yours skills at getting us some memorable family photos and making us and our kids feel so at home. Can’t wait to stay again :)

Jo and Frank are wonderful hosts. The lodge is clean and spacious, and only walking distance to the slopes. We will be back!

What an abosulte lovely place to spend the week! After hitting the slopes all day it was awesome to come back to such a warm, cozy and inviting home!

Joe and Frank have done an amazing job at giving 5 star service as well as being kind and friendly people to just have a chin wag with!

Whilst staying there the other quests that used Amber Lodge as their home stay where all lovely and it led to many awesome conversations.

10/10 will be coming back for sure and will be bringing my family along for the next one.

For a very fair price, we stayed 3 nights at Amber Lodge and it was PER-FECT:
- 5 mins to Mt Buller resort center/shops/restaurants/ski lifts.
- Plenty of storage for ski equipment, for food...
- Clean rooms, great bathrooms
- Fully equipped shared kitchen, common room, TV, board games, terrace
- And fantastic hosts: thank you Jo' & Franck!

Amber Lodge is the best ski accommodation in Mount Buller without a doubt! Jo and Frank are amazing hosts who welcomed us in warm greetings upon our arrival and provided great hospitality throughout our stay. The building from the entrance to the rooms are clean and tidy which gives that "home sweet home" feel especially when arriving back from a fun time hitting the slopes at Mount Buller which is conveniently less than a 10 minute walk. Thank you so much for the amazing service and we would highly recommend this hostel! Wish all the best!

Frank and Jo are so welcoming, so friendly and went far beyond to give me, my partner and other guests a truly unforgatable experience.

We felt like family as we stayed at thier self catering super clean lodge.

The rooms what any experience sky-borader would expect, the communal kitchen has all we needed and more for our week saty, the area is a welcoming space with plenty of comfortable seating.

We could not find a better priced room on the mountain.

Amber Lodge is my first, and probably will be the best hostel I have been to. Joe really helped me out before I arrived, answering questions in detail and even supporting me with technical issues regarding the booking. I booked accommodation for 3 nights, and it was only $260 per night!!! It is conveniently located to the town square, literally only a 10 minute walk away. As for the overall building, Joe said that they renovated the building 5-6 years ago, but it looks new. The entrance to the building almost, like, greets you. It just gives you that "welcome back feeling". As for the cleanliness, not even a spec. The pictures don't even begin to describe how clean this place is, even though it's located in Mount Buller, and a lot of people come and go. It's hard to take pictures and get people convinced, because when I was looking at the pictures I wanted to see more. But then in the pictures it looked like a cosy place, which it is. Long story short, it's a hostel with cheap accommodation that feels expensive, with amazing service.

Amber Lodge is a family run lodge and Jo and Frank are the perfect hosts. From the moment we walked in we could fault nothing. It is the cleanest lodge I have ever stayed at barring none and they are the most organised thoughtful hosts. I would 100% recommend a visit if you are thinking of going to Mount Buller

Our group of 4 families had best time in Amber Lodge ever! Kids friendly environment, quiet side of mt buller, and lovely host Jo and Frank constantly keeping the whole place clean and felt like home! Loving it!

This place truly shines as a high quality accommodation option in the village. It's clean, modern, and has all of the amenities you need and more to do including ensuite bathrooms in some rooms. The owners, Jo and Frank, are delightful and go out of their way to make sure your trip is enjoyable.

We hired the entire lodge and a team of us stayed for 4 nights over the Melbourne Cup weekend. The place was not only clean and immaculate when we arrived, but Jo and Frank the owners were there to greet us. They were the ultimate hosts! They were like ghosts in that we didn't see them a lot, and they often cleaned the kitchen for us, emptied the rubbish and were the ultimate hosts! I highly recommend staying at Amber Lodge as you will be very well looked after and comfortable in every way.

We have been back home in WA for 2 weeks and are already missing our little home at the Amber Lodge. The place is cozy, clean with a big open spaced kitchen and lounge room for mingling with others or even relaxing by yourself. Jo and Frank made us feel like we were at home and we felt comfortable in relaxing and using the facilities as if they were our own. Frank was great for giving advice about what slopes to hit or where to eat and Jo was like our mum away from home. Thank you Jo and Frank for providing a loving space for us to spend our holiday. Amazing nice and accommodating hosts. Arguably the cleanest lodge on the mountain!!

The hosts Frank & Joe are unbelievably nice and accommodating.
From the moment you approach the door they’re ready to assist in anyway they can.
Frank & Joe set the tone for a connected & sharing environment which made conversation in the communal areas comfortable and pleasant. We relaxed & chatted with so many people and learnt so much about the mountain over drinks and food. It was refreshing & rejuvenating after full days of skiing & snowboarding.
The rooms are cosy, comfy & a little small but they are as advertised so no surprises there. On that note, the rooms are so, so clean, as if they were freshly renovated for each quest and this cleanliness extends throughout the lodge. The equipment drying room is the first drying room i've been in that didn’t smell & didn’t feel like a sauna…. That’s right and i've been in & out of ski resorts for 18 years! Frank & Joe know their stuff with guest and their equipment set as a priority! You’ll understand this when you visit.
