Luxury on the Murray Houseboats

Initially booked for October 2022 but had to cancel due to the floods. Rebooked for Australia Day weekend with a group of 20 across two boats. Awesome experience and David and his crew accommodated us all with no problems. We were a group of all men, bit of advice - if you follow the rules and are respectful then you won’t have any issues and make a bad name for all men groups. It’s all about safety in the end! Definitely recommend Luxury on the Murray.

After 2 years of Covid delaying our plans we were finally able to board the house boat and begin our long weekend celebration. Absolutely amazing experience with exceptional customer service and Fast replies to emails. Houseboat was extremely clean, had everything we needed. Was even suitable for a baby and toddler. Will definitely be booking again on luxury 4.

We had the trip of a lifetime with Luxury on the Murray recently - an unforgettable experience. Andrew and his team did an amazing job to make it as enjoyable an experience as possible in extremely difficult conditions - this was just a week before the 2022 flooding of the Murray, when the river was very high. Andrew, in particular, went far beyond his call of duty. He should be commended for his efforts.

The boat was very clean, well looked after and had everything we needed. Our bond was paid back in full in a timely manner. Thanks for giving us this opportunity and I wish your team much better luck with the weather next year.

What a sensational experience! Will never camp more again, we got exactly what was advertised, got our bond back with no issues and was a fantastic way to spend time on the river.
We travelled down to our usual camping spot but as it had been a few years there had been a substantial mud/silt build up on our corner that I wasn't aware of and I ended up driving the houseboat completely into the mud but we were still 10 metres away from the bank, I felt like bit of a dill, tried getting the houseboat back out but she was stuck fast. I swallowed my pride and rang the callout number and David came with his young bloke out to rescue us, can I just say what a testament to the company they both were, their good humour and relaxed attitude took the stress completely out of the situation.
Waking up in the morning and hearing the birds and seeing the river/bush outside the windows was incredibly relaxing.
Because it was so quiet it was always bit of a shame we had to fire up the generator (about 2-3 hours a day) but that's the price of having all the mod cons and give me that any day over camping, but you can choose what time to run it so was only noticeable because there was no other noise, if it was a normal weekend with a few ski boats you would probably not even notice it.
Can't wait to go back and do it all again, thoroughly recommended

We were 3 couples (one couple had to cancel due to Sydney lockdown) on Luxury 5 in the middle of winter. What a great trip we had with so many good memories. I've read other reviews and I think too many people have over rated expectations of what a houseboat is. It's not a 5 star hotel room - it's a 40 tonne lump on the water.

To have 4 double bedrooms, all ensuites, comfy lounge and dining area, great spa and bbq on the upper level, and a fully equipped kitchen, what more can you ask for on a river in a country area?

Yes, there are a few niggly issues but for a few hundred dollars per person for a week it's hard to beat as far as value is concerned.

Staff were great and very helpful. Everything was supplied as stated - just read the information sheet and you know what to take.

We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

What a great trip we had on Luxury 2 over the weekend of the 10th of Dec. We had a group of 10 and were really happy with the accommodation. We received a warm welcome and found the staff very friendly and efficient. Every one of us said we will be back. Thankyou for a great trip!

One of the best family holiday experiences In years. From the booking to welcoming us on board and “showing us the ropes” as to how to drive the boat was seamless and professional.
Clean, good linen, modern and everything was in perfect working order.

Just spent 7 nights on the luxury 4 with 8 people. The driver induction by Andrew was very detailed and he spent a good deal of time on board ensuring that the drivers were comfortable driving. The boat had everything, and I mean everything - heated spa, plenty of fridge space, huge esky, BBQ, washing machine dining areas both upper deck and living area, fully equipped with everything and some, that you would ever need in kitchen. TV in every bedroom with very comfortable king size beds with private shower, toilet. Enough space to store a couple of SUP boards. We needed some extra water towards the end of our trip, and this was delivered to us early in the morning without any bother. We were very well looked after and I would highly recommend luxury on the Murray. None of the guests on board could fault anything and Luxury 4 far exceeded our expectations. Fantastic week away with wonderful friends, perfect pre Christmas getaway. Boats are very well appointed and could not have asked for better service. We will be back next Christmas for sure.

Had a terrific trip, the boat was in perfect condition. The service was fantastic and helpful at all times. Anybody who disagrees definitely has their head up their a$$!

REVIEW BEFORE THE TRIP
I am booked to take my trip 10/1/2020 on the Luxury 4.
I am a Connoisseur of Houseboats, Holidays & Stays.
I have research and read all the reviews as well as the Terms & Conditions. (This helps when leaving feedback)
So far the reviews suggest a 50/50 experience - Concerning - Particularly with the return of Bond.
Currently, I am very impressed with the level of Communication with David. All calls are answered and/or returned within a timely fashion.
I am feeling reassured & very excited about this trip.

Expectations:
I understand by the age and price of the houseboat hire, it is reasonable to say that "Luxury 4" by no means indicates "Luxurious" 5 Star accommodation. However, a high level of cleanliness / hygiene is of high importance to all surfaces, cooking utilities & appliances. Facilities checked, working & clean, fresh linen, no cob webs, enough towels for showering and the completion of this transaction closed accordingly.
Returning the 17/1/2020.

Firstly, I would like to say that our group of 11 had a fantastic time and the houseboat accommodated the 6 adults & 5 early teens well.
Luxury 4 was clean, fresh linen provided. Fresh Showering towels. All Surfaces, crockery and Utensils very clean, windows were clean etc.
The Beds were very comfortable!
Communication was fantastic. David answered all our calls & responded immediately. Andrew was very helpful and happy to answer any queries. We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. After disembarking we encountered on boating issue (caused by ourselves) to which Andrew responded immediately and made us feel at ease. Thank you.
A few suggestions / recommendations from our own personal experience to note (but not condemn as I feel it is reflective of its price) would be:
1/ Update photos on website to reflect accurate representation of decor and age/condition of houseboat.
2/Basic Condiments such as Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Salt & Pepper and maybe Oil would be a simple touch.
3/Air fresheners and Toilet Spays is advisable
4/ Rubbish. I found this to be a huge concern. 11 people over 7 days, rubbish accumulates quite rapidly on the houseboat and is stored on the top deck in bags until embarking. I recommend Large, Odourless Rubbish Bags to sustain the heat and flies. Also, becomes an eye sore when sitting in the spa enjoying the view.
5/ Tea Towels - 2 provided. Recommend at least 10.
6/BBQ Long Lighter. Although matches were provided a long lighter is required to reach sufficiently without scorching your fingers.
7/TV's & Technology. Would recommend to update TV's with USB ports.
Insufficient Charging Ports but managed - Just.
8/Two Tv Remotes missing from 2 Bedrooms

Lastly, our bond was returned well before 14 days. $800 less fuel for unleaded and diesel apprx $400. The generator was running at a medium to high capacity & we travelled for at least 6 hours total in 7 days. This is what I roughly estimated it to be.

I advise that you read the terms & conditions prior to booking, boarding and leaving feedback, so your expectations are met and therefor fair feedback is left accordingly. Based on that 4 stars.

Highly recommend this holiday! We spent 4 nights on Luxury 4 and had the best time. There were 8 of us including a two year old. The service from David and Andrew was excellent! Thank you for our amazing family holiday! Though communication prior the trip and after was very slow.
