Nice cosy place to have a good meal and if you're lucky enough to get to sit next to the fire place is a bonus. All our meals were great.

It was beautiful all round. My husband forgot to use our gift card and staff went to the trouble of refunding and allowing us to put it through on the gift card instead. So glad and will be back!

Nice. As you enter you walk into, but don't disturb those in the coffee lounge. A very nice, comfortable, quiet, almost call romantic location. The dining area is straight ahead. Service being swift, directing you to a table with a smile. That service continued throughout. We like a widow table as the garden adds to its appeal. Everyone dining, seemed relaxed, with a feel good vibe. With the Wallis cinema a matter of metres away it's the perfect way to start a great night out with your favourite person, or people. Cannot fault it.

Gluten Free pizzas were amazingly good with fresh ingredients and cooked just right. And we would definitely re-order the garlic prawns and salt and pepper squid. Front of house staff are always courteous too.

Couldn't believe this gem in Mt Barker. Fantastic table service, family-friendly tavern, swift service and staff that care for customers. Visited with a friend and before we could sit down or drinks were ready, staff listen and the food presentation was great. Relaxed atmosphere with lots of couples and families welcomed as they arrived for lunch. Affordable cake and coffee deals and not to mention fee coffee and pizza slices if you played the pokies. Well presented tavern attached to Auchendorrach house. You can even sit outside overlooking the lovely gardens. I was totally blown away by the service, personal presentation, friendly staff and nice uniform all the staff was wearing. They truly care about this tavern and the locals filled it in a Sunday lunch time. We visited for the day from Adelaide and I couldn't help but enjoy every moment to be amongst all the families who visited that day. You can book for functions just like one table we sat near. Most importantly all the people there were happy.

I was invited by the establishment. Food was ok. Didn't play the pokies. I like to spend a $ here and there $5 being my limit but all but 2 are notes only. I don't want to spend more than my allotted budget so a little disappointing.

I always organise my meet ups with friends here because of the relaxing environment and lovely staff who are so accomodating to our dietary needs (I'm lactose intolerant and my friends are gluten free), we've recently found out about a new coffee and cake deal for $12 for a mug of coffee AND a slice of cake which is unheard of in the hills! 100% going to keep supporting this place!

No negatives at all. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, good menu. Good consistent quality of service. I have eaten there 4 times in the last 2 months.

Do yourself a favour and go there if you are in Mt Barker SA. Forgot to take a photo but the best chips I have ever had anywhere. Could not fault anything.

Friendly staff. Very attentive, I accidentally left my wrap on the back of the chair, they came and found me to return it. Very delicious free coffee in the gambling area.

Brilliant restaurant. The food absolutely slaps, so rich in flavour and truly high quality meals. Whether it's something small or a multi course meal, I would recommend this place anytime.
Staff were very friendly, tables were very clean, there's a lovely atmosphere throughout the building, it's a rather pleasurable experience.

We drove up on a whim after reading an online article about the property.

The rose garden is gorgeous with many exotic varieties and a lovely setting. Although normally only available to specific groups, we lucked out and managed to have a private tour of the wonderfully restored mansion.

It has features from the original wall paper and paintings, most enlightening.

As far as the restaurant is concerned we were between meals, so had drinks and a good size serving of yam chips, nicely presented in a large cone and glassware. Tasty and full filling. All in all a relaxing and romantic (even after 55 years!), day out in the Adelaide hills.

This would be an ideal location and venue for any business or social networking and educational presentations. Highly recommended.

Always an enjoyable meal, staff are friendly and helpful and a beautiful environment.
