Great swim at a hidden gem in the city close to central. Good clean warm pool with coffee and snacks also available.

A friend encouraged me to visit this pool and said it was one of the best in the city, and I’m glad I listened to his rec. Excellent pool for lap swimming (or for lounging about on a sunny day). The water temp is perfect, the pool is very clean, and the other swimmers are respectful. The staff are all very friendly and eager to help.

A few things set this pool apart: it’s outdoors and heated to the perfect temp (not too hot or cold), it’s 50 meters, it’s easily accessible via public transportation, and it’s surprisingly quiet for most of the day (outside of early morning and lunchtime, at which times it’s apparently busier). I’ve been swimming here pretty regularly in either the mid morning or afternoon, and it’s rare that I even have to share a lane. Yesterday, I actually had the ENTIRE pool to myself for most of my swim!

One thing to note—unlike what another reviewer stated, the lockers are NOT free. I believe they cost $2. Most swimmers leave their bags on the bench in front of the pool, which seems pretty safe.

Excellent pool and one of the best I’ve visited during my travels. Highly recommend!

Friendly staff and an awesome location right next to Central and just outside the CBD with free lockers and hot showers. There’s plenty of umbrellas for shade and an expansive grassy area to relax poolside. It’s an easy walk from Central or Redfern Station. 50m pool split across 9 lanes with the standard slow, medium and fast lane options. There is also squad training on offer as well as learn to swim classes. The pool can be split with a divider to be 25m, and lanes can be booked in the 25 or 50m lengths for events and parties. As at 2021, it’s $6.90 for an adult entry, which is good value considering the location.

Really impressed with this pool. Firstly it was a very clean facility, wether that’s because it has just reopened after Covid lockdown or this is always the case remains to be seen but my experience was a good one. The water was relatively warm as it is a heated pool, I know sometimes they are ‘heated’ but still feel cold, this pool was a comfortable temperature. The staff were polite. There are seats available with shade.

It's a well designed hidden gem. Relatively quiet out of peak hours with friendly staff, roomy change areas and of course a good quality 50m outdoor pool. One of my favourite pools in Sydney.

I have been using this pool since I signed up for swim lessons through Different Strokes swimming. The pool is well maintained and the facilities are in good nick too. I love using the heated pool in winter too.

A tranquil outdoor pool at the heart of the city 🌆. 2 min walk from the Central Station 🚉🚂. This Olympic size 🏅 pool is heated and running all year round. I always enjoy the cleanliness of the pool and surrounding amenities. Sunsets are stunning 🌅

Heated outdoor pools, very clean - pool and the changing rooms and toilet areas. Friendly staff and plenty of shaded areas. I’ve lived in the surrounding area since 2004 and have never used this pool before but was a great first experience. Will come back again with the kids when they are older - due to Covid our usual pools have been closed. Also please note all shower areas are closed off too due to Covid.

I frequently visit the Prince Alfred Park Public Pool and am always pleasantly surprised by its amenities and convenience. It's a great spot to cool off during the hot days as it's located near Central Station. It's outdoors, so you can soak up the sun in this inner city oasis. It's become a popular location for families with kids, and people looking for a good workout with basketball and tennis courts available. No need to worry about sand and surf here, just good old-fashioned fun! And when the weather's nice, you'll likely find hordes of people flocking here. All-in-all a great spot to spend a few hours cooling off, playing or simply soaking up the sun. Highly recommend!

The number one attraction of this pool, is its location. A few times I dropped in here to pull some laps whilst waiting for a train. And one time I did some laps straight after running City2Surf. The facility looks great, has been well maintained by the City of Sydney and the staff are great.

Amazing pool! No need for a big fancy aquatic centre, gym, spa etc. Just a good old 50m lap pool. Oh and the most awesome kids pool EVER! Full of heaps of water jets at a good temperature, and fully shaded. Someone with kids definitely designed this pool.

Cafe on site was surprisingly good, inner-city quality (sadly at inner-city prices but at least you get what you pay for).

Oh and did I mention the pool entry prices - $6 for adults! What is this, 2001?!? Thank you City of Sydney ratepayers.

Only downside - parking near nonexistent. Especially when trackwork is on and all the car spaces on Chalmers St get removed. But it's worth it when you find one.

Public heated pool, costing 7.20 AUD per person for a day pass (Jan 2023). It's open air, so it's not as hot as an indoor pool would be, but at a comfortable temperature. The swimming school Different Strokes teaches here from Tue through Sat if you're interested (from beginners to professional level - check their website for time info). At the pool reception they sell swimming equipment, which can be helpful.
