Cancer Council Queensland - Gluyas Rotary Lodge

I had the pleasure of staying at the Gluyas Rotary Lodge during treatment at TUH. Only fault is that my stay was short compared to others (months) around me.
The units are well appointed with major appliances included; refrigerator, oven & washing machine.
The staff are wonderful, prepared to provide lots of support & information to help your journey with cancer. The units are like a sanctuary within the hustle of life outside.
Situated within walking distance of the Strand & a convenience store for essentials if needed.
This property is very popular & so good that it is often hard to book. Always try Gluyas Rotary Lodge first for your stay. So highly recommended 👍🏻

So clean n fully furnished. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

How lucky we were to use the lodge early this year, ended up staying 3 months. As much as we would have loved being with our family and dog's in mackay. This was our away home in Townsville. We did not have to pay any thing.
Had everything supplied except food. Only thing we did was bring 2 outdoor lounges for balcony. We also organised a get together barbq once a week with residents. Staff were fantastic.
Even transport supplied to treatment if required.
Close to strand and walking distance to northward coles etc. Deli across the road with everything you need.

Staff always friendly and helpful.
Units have just been refurbished and are fresh and cool, and very nice to stay in. Self- contained and always clean.
Handy walk to The Strand to visit all the cafes/ restaurants there, and the gorgeous view.
And just opposite a great little shop that has meals and a butcher's plus a great fish & chips shop next door. Stay there if you can. Always good to do so.

Its amazing how unexpected causes can act as an access to experience the meaning of connectedness.
My first time of arrival in July was an extreme experience again. The staffs; family away from family
Volunteer drivers; coming out from a cab driver myself at Thursday Island better responsibility than public transport.
The lodge; I can relocate to leave here till I'm 150 plus % better before I leave this place. so clean, tidy and who can say no more except this in my language with Gods Ammazing Grace, first in Meriam Mir, eastern Torres Strait dialect/ Kala Lagaw Ya, western Torres Strait dialect/ YumplaTok, Torres Strait Creole and English.
