This is a tough walk, the vistas on the way down are limited and the track is, at times closed in by shrubbery. The river at the bottom is pleasant enough to make the walk worth it. We did it with kids, 7,11&14. They all made it OK. It was close to our accommodation, and the challenge sounded more promising than the walk itself.
Drive to the carpark at the end of the road. The track begins to the left of the very end of the carpark.
The first part becomes s clamber down some rocks. It levels off at the base of the cliffs and then becomes a steep decent for most of the rest of the way. The final 1/4 becomes very steep and rocky. Some parts are narrow with steep drops close to the side.
You need to be competent about your balance and walking and stamina for the return.
The sign says 4 hr return. We got down in a little less than 90 minutes.
At the bottom we stopped to boil the kettle and have a sandwich.
Our return was hampered by a twisted ankle and we ended up with ms 14 being lifted out by the air ambulance crew. Just an unlucky step, but be aware this a possibility on this type of walk.
There is no reception from about 30 minutes into the walk.
Pros: the challenge, lack of crowds, beautiful river.
Cons: Steep and rough, limited vantage points for the views, tricky in parts.
See if you can find the rocks and trees in my photos as you walk down. Lots of pretty fungi to see. Lots of bird noises. Some birds to see, but closer to dusk. Time your walk so you are not scrambling back in the dark.

Challenging, steep, rocky and overgrown. Don't miss the lookout in the carpark area. Have to go down slowly to avoid slipping on loose rocks. 4.5km total out and back - 2 hours or less (not counting time spent at the river) indicates great fitness. Pants and long sleeves essential.

Great view, good spot to sleep at, don’t expect functioning toilets. Ya couldn’t pay me to use them.

Unfortunately the track was closed when we have been there, due to feral animal control. But it opens again on the 16th Dec.
