My family and I were really fortunate to have had the opportunity to dine at Masaaki Sushi.
Masaaki and his team made our dining experience extremely special. Although extremely busy, the team were very attentive and provided us with an exceptional dining experience.

Nigiri and sushi were super fresh. Uni was the the best I have had.

Thank you Masaaki and team, can't wait to be back.

I heard about Masaaki through a colleague and it is well worth the drive if you’re coming from Hobart.

It’s one of the freshest and most delicious sushi I’ve ever had. I was spoilt for choice with the selection at the counter 🙂 Masaaki and the staff were very really friendly, and I thought the pricing is very reasonable for the quality you’re getting.

Sad that I’m headed back to Queensland next week otherwise I’d definitely be coming back for more 🤍

We had a wonderful meal with Masaaki the owner and chef. Great discussion on growing yuzu lemons and his Japanese and surfing background. Best Japanese food in Australia. Highly recommended.

If you’re in Hobart and have not checked out Masaaki’s Sushi, you have not been here at all.

Freshly caught every week, he’s been selling out of the cart due to renovation post bush fire, and people line up here for it. That’s enough said.

I’ve eaten a lot of sushi/sashimi in different places and countries including a lot of regions of Japan. And this place is the best.

Worth the long detour to visit this place, has been on our "bucket list" for years. The best sushi I've had outside of Japan. Time your visit around their opening days/hours.

Worth the wait & the hype!! Super fresh, superbly presented and delicious sushi & sashimi. Very reasonable prices and generous serves. This was enough for us for lunch & dinner!! Definitely get a cup of miso too!

Easily the best sushi I’ve had outside of Japan - would highly recommend reserving the sushi platter and sashimi. We were so glad we made the (very pretty) drive from Hobart to come here this weekend ☺

Worth the wait.

Maybe it's a little weird, but my favorite thing is eggplant and zucchini in a sea urchin sashimi bowl😅

And the Miso soup is the best I’ve ever had

Came at 4pm to get a dinner takeaway because of all the reviews we've come across. Little wait time. There was such good variety of cooked and raw sushi for us to choose from, we bought almost one of everything and wished we got all of them! You can tell they take pride in their food and service, as they arrange and pack each sushi properly as you are selecting them and for our hour's drive back. Friendly couple too, who make you feel right at home. Would recommend if you are looking for high quality food!

Incredible sushi, you can tell it is made by a master! We highly recommend ordering in advance so that you can just rock up to the counter to pick up rather than waiting in the long line!

Really delicious and super fresh!!!

The sushi and sashimi are AMAZING! Not only the flavours are great, the taste is scrumptious, but also the thoughts that the chef put into it (different sauces and condiments to go with each bite and the presentation is beautiful) . The ingredients are super fresh! The staff were very friendly and helpful! It was soooo good that I had to go back two more times after we had our lunch there!!!

Completely worth the 1.5hour drive! I honestly had my doubts about how good or different the sushi could be but I was happily proven wrong. I could have easily smashed another box if I had the chance. I’d highly recommend preordering as the line is LONG and they can be sold out very quickly.

Still under construction and operating from a trailer like stall Masaaki Sushi has a huge following. The highest quality food, presented perfectly with the freshest ingredients.
3 years in the making I'm very excited to see the Restaurant is almost done. Her is my sashimi and spicy roll plates I took home to eat.

Omg delicious. I used to live in Japan and I would have to say this is the best sushi I’ve had in Australia and is definitely up there with the quality you get in Japan.
Loved it!

Delicious, fresh and authentic. Masaaki makes his platters from whatever he is able to find locally that morning. The restaurant is intimate and always extremely busy; do not expect to just turn up and grab a table or order takeaway. I was looking forward to visiting Masaaki's for almost a year and certainly wasn't disappointed. I've already booked my next visit!

What can I say.....I've been waiting for over 15yrs to sample some of one of the great sushi masters of the world. Absolutely divine in every way possible. I was actually honoured to meet the great man himself Masaaki. From one chef to another.....wow thank you very much for a beyond perfect lunch with my partner. Every mouthful reminded me of my childhood whilst living in Japan. Thank you very much chef. Thank you to the lovely girls that you employ too. Just a lovely drive from Hobart and so worth the trip.

Very delicious sushi and nice service. Lots of details in the food were spot on, like the sauce, octopus side dish, and homemade miso soup. If you crave for something sweet, dorayaki (pancake with red bean paste) is highly recommended!

Beautiful food, in a beautiful place, served by a beautiful man. As someone who isn’t much into seafood, the quality of Masaaki’s was fantastic and made for a very enjoyable meal. He is also a lovely man to speak with. A must visit for any sushi fan.
