An excellent place to train for both kids and adults. Geoff and Bree are highly knowledgeable and professional but also considerate and understanding. You always feel like you are progressing and learning new stuff every lesson. Kids have a lot of fun and are shown discipline and respect. As an adult, there are no egos - the students are extremely welcoming and supportive.

Geoff and Bree are experts at navigating adult and kids karate lessons. They ensure that all participants enjoy a fusion of fitness and fun-developing skills of discipline, physical strength & martial art study that extends beyond the dojo. Suitable for those new to the space or returning. A fun, safe, inclusive & welcoming option, suitable for most age groups! Highly recommend!!

Wellbeing Martial Arts is amazing and I HIGHLY recommend it for all ages whether preschool to adults, to individuals to families, Wellbeing Martial Arts caters for all. Geoff and Bree have been really instrumental to my children's confidence, growth and development and both Geoff and Bree are absolutely adored and considered very important role models in their lives. Wellbeing Martial Arts is excellent for so many reasons and the children have made many new friendship connections. They love attending each week and look forward to each new session. It is always exciting, its fun and they are always learning something new.

My daughter has been coming to Karate classes for a couple of years. She really enjoys learning with Geoff and Bree who are both very professional, kind and patient. I recommend this dojo for anyone wanting to learn Karate.

I’ve been training with Wellbeing Martial Arts for over 12 months and I’ve enjoyed each lesson. I’ve learnt so much and have gained more confidence in myself and with the techniques.
I highly recommend anyone considering martial arts, give this class a call, as Sensi Geoff is full of passion and knowledge and also there is so much fun to be had.

Training at Wellbeing Martial Arts in Goju Seishin Karatedo has been the most amazing experience. I have several years experience in another art and have trained around but had never found the right fit for me. After losing motivation and not knowing which direction to go in martial arts, I finally found something in which I felt I belonged.

The training when hard is done in a nurturing way that expands your limits and develops your strength and spirit. When we pull back we focus on nuance, technique and soft skills. The training is very well-rounded and holistic, and explores many different aspects of Goju ryu/kensha.

Wellbeing Martial Arts also highly values safety and longevity in training, something which is incredibly important for long term health and training in martial arts in general. The training is very individualised, so any health/fitness limitations are always acknowledged and worked with respectfully.

The group is amazing and so incredibly supportive. We push each other and help each other grow, and we're a lovely karate family haha. The instructors are just the best, and I always feel like I can ask any question. Everyone is highly respected and valued, and we very much value etiquette and respect as being very important. The instructors are always incredibly kind, warm and encouraging. We get fantastic individual attention whilst training as a group. Whilst traditional and functional in many aspects, it's also very relaxed and not rigid and strict.

Wellbeing Martial Arts not only has a structured and logical curriculum, it also highly values student input and holds space for and creates an incredibly open and sharing environment while still building and maintaining a solid cohesive foundation. The lack of ego is fantastic, and allows us to learn effectively and safely. You are never forced to go for gradings but you always progress at your own pace.

All are absolutely welcome to train with us and we are so thrilled when new people come along. I absolutely love training here; who I am and my martial arts knowledge and ability has grown immensely 🙏🏻.

I’m writing this review from my hospital bed after having a shoulder replacement. 6 months ago my surgeon and physio thought trying Tai Chi to help with my flexibility and strength would be a great idea. I can’t thank Geoff and Bree enough for accommodating me, together with their support and encouragement I was able to get my strength up. The Gisborne group are very friendly and supportive. I can’t wait to return to classes and I would highly recommend these classes.

Doing tai chi and love it. Very caring instructors and great environment to learn in. My balance and skills have improved and the meditation has developed and helped with general health and well being.

My husband and I have trained here for years and we love it. The instructors know their stuff and care about their students, which is a winning combination. If you’ve always wanted to give martial arts a go and feel safe and supported while you do it, WBMA is for you.
