The seafood was so fresh that we went back to Freycinet Marine Farm two days in a row.

We had the scallops, mussels, fish and chips, prawns on our first visit. The seafood platter, the sashimi and the fish on our second visit.

The portion was reasonably priced and we were surprised by the amount of mussels.

All in all, a place for fresh seafood

Freycinet Marine Farm is a must-visit for seafood lovers! Their oysters are hands down the best in the world—fresh, flavorful, and harvested right in the pristine waters of Tasmania. The setting is beautiful, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, making the entire experience unforgettable. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on this gem!

Fresh, fresh, fresh seafood!!! Melts in your mouth! The mussels, the best ones we ever had. Highly recommend to stop by Marine Farm for fresh oysters, cooked mussels with lemon dressing before you drive over to the national park or hike to the Wineglass Bay. Trust me, after that long drive, you need sustenance of fresh seafood to continue exploring Freycinet.

Great choice with Bay of Fire to chill out after our hike at Wineglass Bay. Perfect match with delicious fresh seafood of oysters, mussels and prawns

We had the best mussels ever at this place! So fresh, sweet and tender, full of flavors. The scallops were also outstanding.

The oysters were fresh but a bit too brawny to our taste.

Got here just before midday and not much crowds. Friendly service. I was expecting fresher oysters but these were already great. Had the sashimi and, oysters and fish and chips. Can say the fish and chips were great. Chips. Way above expectations for a place out in a park. Will definitely visit again.

Really, yummy oysters. Fish and chips didn't disappoint! And don't come here without trying the scallops. The flavour combo with garlic bread was a delightful surprise.

Take the tour with Declan. Lovely bloke who knows his stuff and delivers it with humour.

The waders are not the most flattering, but they are warm and keep you dry. Shucking oysters in the river and then instruction for the DIY attempt is a real highlight. The mussels freshly steamed are a revelation.

Food in the shop is also exceptional.

Edit:
We’d like to thank the owner Julia for her reply and for taking the criticism to the team. We are changing our review to 5 stars as we don’t want to harm anyone’s hard business.

Ah, hate to do these type of reviews. But here goes.

People buy from people. Let that always be your number one credo when running a business depending on customers.

Your food is incredible. We loved every bit of it. We got ourselves a dozen oysters and salmon sashimi for dinner and took it to our rental home. Enjoyed it a lot.

That’s why we came back the next day to have a late lunch on site. We ordered the Sri Lanka mussels and fish and chips. Got the alarm device and waited at a table. The device never went off. So after 20mins we asked for our order number. It was already marked as given out.

For some reason, the same order was taken to the tables by the chef at the same time as no one seemed to have picked it up, but it was for a different order number.

We took it instead but all the food was already cold and lukewarm at most. So we took it back asking for a solution. That’s when things went south. The chef rolled his eyes, crisply agreeing to do our order again.

We did nothing wrong in this entire process. It’s not our fault when the order system fails and the staff isn’t trying to find the people themselves after no one is picking up an order within a minute after it’s ready.

It was only because of the annoyed expression we got after complaining about our cold food, that we asked for an excuse for having to wait for a total of 35 minutes for the food we ordered. A little something on top, as we didn’t get an apology at all for doing nothing wrong.

We then got a GREAT apology a couple of minutes later. Six beautiful Asian style and Kilpatrick oysters. We LOVED them and they were literally thrown on our table by the chef who babbled something and took off the same second, visibly annoyed by our presence.

Again. People buy from people. We planned to come here a third time after a hike in Freycinet National Park. We won’t, although the food is great, but the service isn’t.

Cool little seafood place which is very popular! We ordered Salmon Sashimi, chips and the Mediterranean oysters. We had just finished the oyster tours where we'd enjoyed stunningly fresh and natural oysters. So, unfortunately, I was disappiibted with the Mediterranean oysters. I found them very dry and pretty bland. There was no liquid left in them at all. So, I'm not sure if they were overcooked or if this is how they come.

This place is still amazing though so it definitely gets 5 stars... I just should have stuck to natural oysters.

I’ve never had fresher oysters that I haven’t harvested myself. Top that off with prices you’ll never find on the mainland.
If you’re in freycinet this is definitely a must go!

The tour ….the most excellent tour ! Declan was our guide who is super friendly and puts you at ease straight away . The tour was on the oyster farm . We were given waders and went into the river and were selected lovely fresh oysters ! A great informative talk and then the schucking lesson ! We both are now experts in opening oysters …..thanks Declan !

The name of this farm is so accurate! Everything tastes fresh! The mussels were out of this world and the workers were extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered the whole flat head but later learned it was sold out. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with the new decision and handled the situation extremely professionally. We loved everything about this place. If you’re on the East Coast this restaurant is a must.

This is a great and authentic place to stop for fresh off the farm oysters and other delicious produce. We had done the oyster tour the day before and had to come back for some more before we left the area. No fuss, just delicious food and wine!

Went there just to try their oysters and was not disappointed. The best oyster I've ever had. We also joined their oyster farm tour which was absolutely amazing and I'd highly recommend.

~The Tour~
Joined Declan for a 2 hour journey to learn about oysters and mussels. Declan is knowledgeable with a dash of humor. Especially enjoyed to learn how to shuck oyster! We also had a chance to try a very nice riesling to pair with our food. We have 6 pieces of oysters (actually 7, one was freshly open in the river), some delicious mussels and a glass of wine. If you are a foodie, highly recommend this tour.

~The Shop~
Because we learned how to shuck oyster, of course we put it in practice and bought 2 bags home and try! We were driving around for a bit before we head back to our bnb and the oysters still super fresh. Tried the cooked mussels and salmon sashimi at the shop and they are just fresh! It's a shame they are not serving the Chilli mussels which was highly recommended by Declan.

Best seafood lunch we've ever had. Every single dish is so yummy and fresh. There are heaps parking at the site and wheelchair accessible. Dishes are served quickly. Highly recommended!

Delicious oysters at great prices!
We had heard good things about this place so we thought we would check it out!
The menu is varied with a selection of fresh and cooked oysters (sorry didn’t try any of the mussels) and different seafood options depending on the days catch.
We ordered a dozen of the Fresh Oysters plus six of the Oysters ‘Mediterranean’ (Spinach, Ricotta, Sourdough, Parmesan and Lemon) and six of the Oysters ‘Asian Style’ (Ginger, Shallot, Soy and Mirin). We loved the alternate oyster options (in particular the Asian Style) but you just can’t beat them when they are as fresh as this!
It is cafeteria style dining in that you order at the counter, are given a buzzer for when your food is ready to collect and that you need to offload your own shells, trays, glasses etc. when finished.
Other than that small detail, we would definitely stop by again - especially with oysters at these prices!!
