Crawney Rd is quite windy and steep in places. The sign recommends 4WD, but I went carefully in a 2WD SUV and had no problems. The road is graded gravel, with the occasional pothole. Coming down the south side of the mountain (spectacular views!) you cross a causeway, then pass Crawney Station.

It's really just some remnant native vegetation on a steep saddle that gets you from Tamworth shire into the hunter. It is nice bush though and you can have a vigorous walk up the watershed ridge from the saddle and see giant eastern grey kangaroos on the ground and wedge tailed Eagles in the air.
