Amazing trail with unique sedimentary geology. Amazing flora. Flowers year round. Quite a steep challenging section around the last 40% of the trail with rock scrambling. Can be very windy at the top so bring a jacket.

Challenging and fun hike, quite steep at times involves scrambling over rocks. Excellent views from the summit

Toolbrunup peak is amazing and the second tallest peak some 45 metres lower then Bluff Knoll. However the track can be challenging as almost all of its path is loose crumbling shale like rock which needs to be negotiated carefully on the way down especially if carrying a lot of weight on your back. Good footwear is important. A small cramped carpark may be inadequate during holidays. The summit is tiny unlike Bluff Knoll and any more then a dozen or so people on the top could be dangerously crowded.

Not your usual walking track, very rocky slippery track, don't recommend doing it in the dark, requires climbing and crawling over rocks, but all the effort is well worth the sweat and you get rewarded with 360deg views from the peak.

Not easy as Bluff Knoll, need some "climbing " to get to the peak. There are some hard slopes with big rocks, so downhill is even harder. And it's not wise to try if it is raining. Anyway, the view is totally worth it. A whole trip takes 3 to 4 hours.

As expected the weather can change quite quickly, but the hike is very much worth it! 360 degree views from the top. If you have joint issues in your legs, possibly rethink this climb.

Husband and 12 year old son attempted and succeeded with their quest to climb toolbrunup. They allowed 5 hours (more time then suggested as our son is inexperienced) for their trip and were exact with their timing. How this can be graded as a level 5 climb- the same as bluff knoll that has steps partially, is perplexing. (Maybe bluff should be downgraded?) In many places this is 45 degrees and quite scary, although still manageable by young kids. They got to the top to be wowed by stunning views, but not without nearly turning back at one point (near to the top).

This is a hard climb. (Grade 5). You must be reasonably fit. Sturdy footwear is a must. A lot of scrambling. Check the weather and allow ample time to return before dark.
