Being in my more "mature" years I'm experiencing the physical effects of surviving over a longer period than I ever imagined in my younger years.
It means that walking for exercise is difficult.
So as I've always been keen on water sports, skindiving, surfing, boating etc. I thought it would be a good idea to buy a kayak that would provide me with plenty of exercise in an enjoyable environment without the issues I have when trying to walk any distance.
Not knowing anything about kayaking I started researching this, what I thought was a simple pastime.
However as usual with any hobby or sport it is a lot more complex than at first imagined and there are many things to consider before spending money on a kayak. Especially if you have a few continual aches and pains.
I looked on line and in the usual retail outlets for information and viewed kayaks on display and tried to fathom out what would be a suitable craft specifically for me.
There are so many models, sizes and variations with innumerable features that making a logical and sensible choice is very difficult and confusing.
Luckily I had the sense to visit Paddle sports Megastore where I was thoroughly educated by the very respectful and patient (I thought I knew a few things) staff who showed me things I had not thought of, design features that are really important to consider and quality kayaks that are very reasonably priced.
It certainly made me aware of the shortcomings of cheaper "bargain" models in mainstream stores and convinced me of the importance of ensuring that fit for purpose and safety is paramount when buying a kayak on which you are going to depend in a water environment.

It's not often you get such expert advice from an obvious professional who has your interests in mind when making a purchase at a retail outlet.
Well worth a visit before you decide to purchase a kayak.

As someone new to kayaking, I was unsure about what clothing I needed, but the staff member who helped me was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to explain which clothing would be best for different weather conditions, making sure I felt confident and well-prepared for my adventures. Great customer service, I highly recommend this place to anyone in need of quality gear and friendly guidance.

What a great shop that can offer all kinds of kayaks with and without foot paddles. Mr Ken was kind enough to show us the type of canoe he had. Besides, there was also a kayak that was equipped with fishing supports and equipment. The staff was very helpful and gave good advice on choosing the right type of kayak. It is kayaking and fishing time! Cheers!

We purchased two kayak, paddles and accessories from the very helpful, knowledgeable and polite Sharon on Easter Saturday, she even set-up the soft roof rack for us. We are very happy with the purchase and service, the only minor fault was we saw the fishing kayak had some deep scratches on the hull when we loaded it onto the car.

I've had my Perception Pescador Pilot 12 for 4 years and have been very happy with every aspect of the boat. Recently a small threaded insert pulled out of the hull. It is moulded into the hull as part of the manufacturing process. I took my boat in to Paddlesport Megastore in Myaree for a repair solution. Indy and Richard investigated several options and also enquired with Perception in America on a solution. Still being under the 5 year warranty, instead of repairing it , without hesitation, Perception in the US agreed to replace the entire boat with a new one. This is just testament to the quality promise they offer and stand by. I'm a very happy customer. Thanks to Richard and Indy for the great service.

Perth's newest premier paddle store

We visited this store today 22/12/2020, we where advise to go the Paddlesports Megastore as the service and stock levels were great by Matthew Baldock from GOGO ACTIVE TOURS PTY LTD, who by the way is terrific.
Well believe me, we will never set foot in that store again, if I didn't have an urgent need to purchase two sets of paddles for my kayak I would have told the guy to shovel them up his ######. This guy has no sales expertise and is absolutely rude, he should be kept out in the warehouse.

Poor customer service, I will never go back.
