Be sure to call or email them before visiting, to make sure the museum is open. The museum is great and tells the story of what happened here really well. It's important we remember this! Expect to be here for at least 1.5 hours if you want to really read all the information.

Learning about the fall of Yugoslavia and the subsequent divide and genocide is very important. I came here to educate myself and learn first hand from those who lived the war.

If you are in Sarajevo, I strongly recommend driving here (2.5hours) or booking a group tour. It is completely free to enter and there is ample parking outside.

Absolutely worth the visit (even as a strenuous day-trip from Sarajevo). This is not just a museum about the Genozide, but the very place where it started. The museum is housed in the former base of Dutchbat (the division of UN-PROFOR in charge of protecting the Muslim Bosnians in Srebrenica from the Serbs), and the space is used optimally to tell the sequence of events that led 8,000 male Bosniaks to death in great detail. You’ll be able to gain very thorough insights into the nature of the terrain, the military aspect, the people involved, the interactions and decision-making processes, etc. Plan in some time (reading most of the compelling information and watching at least some of the videos can easily take you 3-4 h). You won’t regret the visit.
IMPORTANT: email then ahead of time if you come. This museum is not prepared to accept visitors who come without prior advise.
